As devil advocate 😜:

Why do people need different drugs when one drug can treat as many diseases?
If one is such that good, why has creator not applied patent?
Why do they have to bring others in for advertising how good it is?
No warranty offered.

And not single new owner asks Honda dealer to use ML on pickup day, any car brands.

When the warranty is over, why the devotion? Millions of miles logged proving ML is a great product at a lower price.

But can they really yank your warranty if you use Maxlife ATF? Thought there were laws about that sort of thing.

I guess that would depend on if Honda considers Valvoline MaxLife ATF as the wrong fluid.

It's more about not having to crawl under the vehicle and not having to find someplace to dispose of the old ATF.
It's possible (sometimes preferable) to change atf yourself without crawling under the vehicle and most auto parts stores will take the old atf. In some states they have to. It's a simple job that is often easier and faster to accomplish than driving to the dealership, justifying not accepting all the upsells, waiting, and driving back.
