The Wix VP of oil filter marketing is going to lose his year-end bonus.
Ya, I'm sure they will bump up their BPV rating just for me, to try to get my oil filter business back. NOT /smirk
Maybe RockAuto will begin to carry Purolator. Crazy thing is when you Google search, RockAuto pops up as a carrier.

When choosing an oil filter more important is filter efficiency (Beta Ratio) and dirt holding capacity not bypass setting. If you want great filtering/clean oil for an extended oil change interval (15,000 or more miles) you use Fram Ultra (99%@20 microns). You can add to this category Mobil1 EP and probably some other so called boutique oil filters like Amsoil, Royal Purple etc.). If your oil change interval is up to 10,000 get WIX regular, STP Xl (Autozone), NapaGold, Microgard Select (O'Really), Fram TG etc. These filters are good up to 10,000 with good efficiency of 99%@23 microns.
Use Wix XP only if you like dirty oil in your engine for an extended oil change interval. Its filtering performance is 99%@35 microns or 50%@20 microns. Regular Wix is 95%@20 microns and Honda is 62%@20 microns. Does all that matter? I do not know but I know that I used Fram COD for over 300,000 miles on my both Nissans (conventional oil, 3000 mile oil change interval) and sold both with perfectly running engines.

I hear what your saying, I've bought and used most all of the big names. Never had an issue with any of these. I like the idea of a better micron rating to capture finer particles. But what good is a better micron rating if the bypass valve is low and has the possibility of remaining open towards the end of its life. It's useless. I don't know if that's the case or not. I find it interesting that other filters like Mobil 1 have a higher BPV rating than Wix and I safely used their filters for years. I won't deny that I prefer to pay $6 for a filter versus $10-15. Especially since I buy 12 at a time. I think these Purolator One filters will exceed my needs. I hope so anyway.

Pure One is one of the best if not the best oil filter considering price/performance one can use. The only reason I did not mention "Purolator" is that few years back they were called "Tearlators". There were some reported cases of torn media. If I had to buy an oil filter now Pure One would be on the top of my list. But I just use what is free to me (free filter exchange in my area) or an oil filter that is included in oill bundle deal.

Looking over the oil and filter bundles at Advance Auto, were I still DIYing oil changes, I'd probably choose Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic oil and either a Purolator Boss or a Fram Titanium filter, for $37.99.

You had shown a graph not long ago about Penzoil having one of the lowest Noack ratings. Would that include Penzoil (Ultra) Platinum?

Link to test results for the latest (API SP) formula of Pennzoil Platinum in 5W-20.
NOACK Volatility is 8.2.

In comparison, the NOACK Volatility for Shell Rotella Gas Truck (API SN) 5W-20 was 7.2.

Good info.
The lower the Noack rating the less susceptible it is to thermal breakdown.

Well it took forever and thankfully I had no oil changes to do this weekend, but my Purolator PL14459 arrived today. Thought maybe I'd get the old 10k mile graphics but it's all new graphics.
High expectations.
Like the red gasket and flowback valve.

Looks like Santa came early to the Grease household.

(Do you even have a chimney?)

Needless to say at this point that Canadian Walmarts and Canadian Tire don't have that. I did find them on Amzon.ca, but for about what you paid, I'd only get two.

Sorry I have missed all the fun on this age old favorite topic, but…

I use filters from my dwindling stash of Honda -A01 filters (made by Filtech not Fram) until out of factory warranty.

I use Bosch D3323 Distance Plus filters on one J35 vehicle that had oil consumption issues since those filters had the highest filtration efficiency and dirt capacity of any published data I could find. They are discontinued now, so I am swapping to the Bosch 3323 Premium filter as a good low cost filter ($3.50 from RockAuto).

Looks like a well made filter.
Buying in bulk from RockAuto would be necessary to benefit from the price.
