I am not sure where to post this thread ( in the accessories or Model ) -

Followed the thread posted by hpilottouring , to install the running board on 2013 Honda Pilot Touring
( Well, I didnt follow it properly, messed up the Rivetnut )
Model : Premium Chrome Running Boards.

Driver Side Installation went breezy :29: , but Passenger side Rivet Nut installation got messed up -
Reasons Could be
1. Over confidence
2. Over Push on the Jack,
3. Thread mess up on the Flange bolt hole to hold the bracket
4. Bracket lifted at an angle ( I didnt notice)

I dont want to give up , I would like to know the best and easy way to remove the SPINNING RIVET NUT

Any Suggestions.

Regards
Hulk

I don't think there is a way to remove the rivet nut once it's bulged to the point it won't come out by itself. It looks like this now, and I don't think you can un-do that bulge. Maybe if you thread in a bolt and hammer it up? I wouldn't try that on my own vehicle.

The only solution is to fully set it in place. The best way to do that is with a rivet nut tool. Might need to start calling some auto shops in your area.

ooo...fixed it...

Gap yesterday left over work as shown in the picture above is about 1/8"

I took a chance as mentioned by RSQ.

Used the Same Bolt
M8 X 1.25 X 40mm

Solution I tried and working ( SO FAR ,,,will give feedback after 1 month )

1. Rivet nut installed is loose by 1/8" from frame of the body
2. Inserted Flat washer on the M 8 X 1.25 X 40 mm Bolt
3. Inserted M 8 X 1.25 Nut over Flat Washer
4. Inserted Flat Washer over M 8 X 1.25 Nut
5. Inserted the assembly bolt to the Rivet nut installed already
6. Holding the Bolt with Wrench and Started tightening the Nut , Rivet started spinning with nut. Kept on going little bit, some point - Nut Started Tightening- Pushed the Rivet nut all the way in
7. Tightened the BOLT - roughly about 2 turns
8. Unscrewed the Bolt - by holding the Nut - It will be a real tough to get it out by holding nut - kept on going. Everything came out -
Rivet Nut is TIGHT...

Finished the Installation.....

Adios....
