Rear length with 2nd/3rd rows seats down?

Hello,

I'm a prospective Pilot buyer...about to decide on either an 06 EX or 07 EX model. I have a question about the interior space...

What is the length of the rear when both the 2nd and 3rd rows are folded down (with the tailgate shut)? I am wondering if it would be possible for one 6'2" person to sleep comfortably in the back, if needed to on a camping trip.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

jsut an estimate, but i would say between 6 1/2 and 7 feet if you move the front seats all the way forward. I have transported 4x8 sheets of plywood and sheetrock in the Pilot and have needed to keep the tailgate open even though it overhung maybe a foot or so.

the seats 2nd row passenger seats do not lie 100 % flat eitehr, so you will be on a slight incline

best of luck

At an angle I would say yes.

I have had 6' building material in the back with the hatch closed.

As far as a 6'2 person fitting in the back of the pilot with the front seats forward, definitely. I just transported a grandfather clock that was 6'8" tall at the tallest point with the front passenger seat all the way forward and the seat back all the way forward, and still had enough room for the weights below the clock (around 6 inches) with the door shut. Comfortably may be another question, if you're a side sleeper the fold forward 2nd row could pose a problem because they don't fold 100% flat, so there will be an angle. If you're a back sleeper though, just consider it a craftmatic adjustable.:2:

Camping in our Pilot

Hi. My wife and I camped out this past weekend in the back of our Pilot. We bought a full size foam mattress pad--which fit perfectly without any trimming. The slight upward slope of the folded middle seats wasn't a problem at all. We brought some nylon screening which we drapped over the front doors for open window ventilation and a couple of beach towels held up by the sun visors for privacy. It was a pretty comfy setup allowing us to spend an extra day at the Connecticut shore. Cool!

I've actually hauled several sheets of 4x8 plywood with the tail gate SHUT. In a pinch, you can put them up over the headrests if the headrests are up pretty high. They are up over your head and still leave enough room to drive (if you aren't TOO tall).

I also hauled about 6 pieces of 16' crown molding (with the liftgate UP of course). They only stuck out about 3 feet. I put them up over the console and into the footwell of the front passenger seat layed back all the way.

Pretty versatile hauler in a pinch. Sure beat driving all the way home and hooking up the trailer just for some molding!
