Get out of accessory mode without starting car

This morning I stopped to get some much needed DayQuill but I had to wait 10 minutes before the store opened. I put my '22 Pilot in accessory mode but when the store opened I couldn't figure out how to turn off accessory mode without starting the car first. Pressing the start button without pressing the break didn't work--it just screamed at me to depress the brake pedal to start the car.

Found nothing in the owner's manual except turning off the vehicle after it's started. Any clues?

You just press the start/stop button twice without pressing the brake.. The first time puts it in On mode (but doesn't start the engine), the second time puts it in Off.

Yes, the Start/Stop button cycles through Accessory mode, Ignition On mode, and Off if the brake pedal is not depressed. It'll just keep cycling as you continue pressing the button. Obviously, pushing the brake pedal bypasses that cycle and engages the starter circuit.

Note: when you cycle to Off, the retained accessory power will still energize the radio, power window switches, etc (so it may not seem like the car is really off). Once you open a door, that retained accessory power switches off and the radio should turn off.

That's not what happens to me. Press once to get in accessory mode, press again and I get a message telling me to apply the break and press. Get out of the car and it beeps loudly at me, I guess to warn me it's still in accessory mode. I expected it to react as if I had just shut off the engine but it doesn't.
