This morning I stopped to get some much needed DayQuill but I had to wait 10 minutes before the store opened. I put my '22 Pilot in accessory mode but when the store opened I couldn't figure out how to turn off accessory mode without starting the car first. Pressing the start button without pressing the break didn't work--it just screamed at me to depress the brake pedal to start the car.

Found nothing in the owner's manual except turning off the vehicle after it's started. Any clues?

You just press the start/stop button twice without pressing the brake.. The first time puts it in On mode (but doesn't start the engine), the second time puts it in Off.

THREE presses to get into an out of accessory mode. Grateful I don't have to jump up and down on one leg and cluck like a chicken.

Yes, if you were not already in accessory. Your initial question was how to get out of accessory mode. If you are already in accessory mode it is two presses.
