I would love to install a front+rear dashcams on this car. Has anyone done this, and if so, were you able to do it yourself? I was hoping there would be some tutorial youtube videos up but haven’t seen any yet.

It's a pretty standard process. I didn't watch a tutorial video specific to the vehicle when I did it on my Accord, I just followed the basic principles. The traditional way is running wires tucked into the headliner, down the A pillar, and to the fuse box for a hardwire install, or to the nearest power outlet for a regular install. For the rear camera, same concept, but just keep running along the headliner all the way to the back.

The only tricky part on a vehicle like this is running the wire to the liftgate. You may want to follow a factory wire conduit.

You may also need to pull away the weatherstripping that is at the edge of the headliner on the sides to run a wire to the back.

I’ll try to get a picture if I remember, but I did install it. Some trim pieces took more force and time than I would’ve liked, most notably the vertical side dashboard piece between the a-pillar and the door. I mounted the cam to the right of the rear view mirror, however I couldn’t squeeze the wires between the headliner and black plastic where the Honda sensing stuff is. I may just move it to the left as the setup will look a bit cleaner if the camera itself doesn’t bother me. For the rear, I originally planned to route it through the wire conduits and out under the plastic to mount directly to the rear glass. I settled to mount it just forward of the ceiling light as the rear trim didn’t give easy and I already dealt with problematic trim already.

Finally back driving a Honda after after I sold my 2013 Pilot Touring 10 yrs ago. Got a 2023 EX-L last May 24th and I just finished installing a Blackvue DR900S-2CH using a powermagic pro hardwire kit. It took me around and hour to do the install. View attachment 168727 View attachment 168728

Just wanted to say these pictures were a big help. Installed my 2 channel cam a few months ago, however I really didn't want to rip off the rear trim without knowing what was behind it. First new vehicle, so I didn't to break something considering how long it took me to get the car. Before, I had it mounted in front of the light on the roof trim, but now it's mounted on glass looking factory.

I installed a front and rear hidden dashcam in my car myself and it was actually pretty easy. I just followed the instructions that came with the dashcams and took my time. I didn't have to drill any holes or anything, I was able to run the wires under the trim panels. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and I would definitely recommend doing it yourself if you're comfortable with it.

What device did you install and do you have any pics of the installation / what trim panels you put the wires under? Thanks. I am still looking to do this.

OK I went with RedTiger F7N 4K front rear dashcam. Video quality is good enough to capture any accidents day or night.
At first, I really don't wanna do the tuck in wire thing above the headliner and all the way to the back but after watching many "how to" video I went ahead and did it. Surprisingly it went well 😉

Bit late I know, but I got a Viofo A229 Duo. 2k front and rear was the main selling point. I’ve moved the front and rear camera once for a more clean look. Originally had the front on the right side of mirror out of view of the driver, but I couldn’t hide the wires crossing underneath the Honda sensing housing. Moved to the left side and it looks much neater without much interference. I was worried the status lights might be distracting, but it’s a non issue. I can turn off if I wish, but I seen no need so far. As for the rear, I eventually took off trim to stick it to the glass. Hardest part was routing the cable through the rubber conduit on the right side. It leads to more view of the road behind with less of the car visible. I had to test this unfortunately the car suffered a small rear end collision at a stop sign. Still waiting to find out if I’ll have to reroute the cable again once I get the car back as the hatch is being replaced.

I just received a Viofo A229 pro duo with the plan to self install this week. This is my first vehicle with full three row side curtain airbags. I did have a question for those of you who followed the edge of the headliner. Look at this image of a 2023 pilot front end collision and how the headliner deformed on the drivers side from the A column air curtain. https://www.piloteers.org/threads/2023-pilot-elite…totaled.181918/#post-1817404

My concern is that anything that ran down the edge of the headliner could hinder air bag deployment. I don't have an issue pulling the cover of the drivers side A column for wire routing behind the air bag for a power wire run. My concern is making the rear camera run. What are your thoughts on the crash images? I watched the some of those you tube installs and I didn't like the way they crossed the wire over the A column airbag at the top of the column. Did you take down the entire edge of the headliner to make sure your run didn't hinder side air curtain deployment? There's quite a bit of infrastructure along the headliner and sure, it's easy enough just to cram a wire along the side but I'm not sure that's what I want to do. Is there enough length to run along the baseboard and back up in the back? Am I making a bigger deal out of this than is necessary? Any help would be appreciated.

It's been a while since I looked at the rear cable routing. I did reroute the power cable under the A-pillar because I did have concerns there, but the rear didn't really come to mind. I did remove the door weatherstripping to tuck it behind when passing through those areas. I think that is still behind the airbag? I didn't see any interference at the time. As for length, that depends on whatever the camera comes with. I still had a decent sized loop tucked above the ceiling plastic trim, but routing on the floor would certainly take more than the top route. My rear cable was 6m.

I decided on the FITCAM X. I didn't want to go through all the hassle with a rear camera so I just did the front. So far I like it and it was fairly easy (once I figured out that the over head panel only had 2 screws vs 4)

I installed the same FITCAMX in my Pilot. I also am pleased with it. I also went ahead and got the CPL filter. Once I figured out how to get started, it took about 20 minutes to install. The ‘23-‘24 Accord video they showed did not explain how to get started on the Pilot. However, it did show how to remove the overhead and where to connect for power. I got a better deal ordering direct from their website. You can find a 10% off code on the internet. There are better, more expensive dasncams out there, but this one is better IMHO—at least at this price range.
