Not bashing maxlife, just saying it's claiming full synthetic and not 100% synthetic and maxlife is still a much better choice over Honda ATF that has Zero synthetic claims on the label. I looked at amsoil "100% synthetic ATF" and the still say "follow the manufacturer's normal service schedule". I'll switch myself to maxlife for my next trans flush as it will be an upgrade from OEM Honda ATF but, definitely not going to amsoil as they still recommend manufacturer's service schedule at a premium price.
I have experience with MaxLife in the 5-speed Honda transmission. It has served us well. Especially in the two 2012 V6 Crosstours we own that have the unserviceable cartridge filter inside the bell housing. The thinner fluid I believe has been a positive. Not one transmission issue with 144k miles logged using it.
This 6-speed in the 2017 Pilot has not had any mechanical adverse effects using MaxLife. I credit MaxLife with helping with this transmission's slipping issues. I didn't want to put OEM Honda DW-1 back in it after this fluid had obviously failed to protect it after 19k miles. So now I'm experimenting with other full synthetic fluids.
I can not recommend MaxLife for the Honda 6-speed transmission, although others are using it. But I certainly don't recommend OEM Honda DW-1 either, lol. I'm just an over paid oil change guy and an under paid mechanic. No one special. Learning from others, living by my own experiences.
Ya, don't like the price of Amsoil products.
