2016 Pilot EXL and I installed a new hub/bearing . There were no dash warming or trouble codes before the hub was installed ! Multiple lights on after install . Also i need to push start button twice to shut car off ! I was leaning toward the wheel sensor on the rear where hub went but I never bumped it ! Was suggested I get a scanner that will get into the ABS AVS AWD n more ? I have a foxwell but I guess it won’t access what I need ! Any ideas of an affordable scanner ? I can buy a Autel MaxiDas DS708 Automotive Diagnostic System Scanner for $100 TY

I knew nothing about which scanner I needed but after some research I bought a Foxwell NT604 Elite ! Received it today , connected it and followed along with Quick Start I was finding it very easy to maneuver thru system ! If you’ve followed this thread you’ll see I installed a new hub/bearing and after that my dash lit up like a Christmas tree ! Some on here suggested it could be the speed sensor on the hub I changed ! Within minutes I connected , went thru the scan process and sure enough the only fault was the rear wheel speed sensor (couldn’t clear the fault so knew it was bad) ! I removed that sensor where I put new hub and sure enough the end was broke off ! Tried 5 local parts stores and none stocked so I ordered online and much cheaper ! I feel confident that when new sensor is installed the warning lights will be gone after I erase the wheel sensor fault ! Just saying for $135 the scanner was what I needed

Personally, I got with an Autel scanner. Do not buy it from Amazon. Get if from an authorized retailer. You'll have to find one that can handle that feature. I really like mine but after purchasing it I found out I can add custom PIDs. Expect to pay $300 - $700 for a nice DIY scanner. You can actually call Autel and explain what you're looking for in a scanner and they'll point you in the right direction.

I have the Autel MX808. So far it has been pretty good about being able to pull info from all the different modules (module meaning system type - AT, SRS, ABS, etc). However, regarding your problem, what brand hub did you use? If you used an aftermarket brand, then a problem picking up wheel speed is not necessarily uncommon. I used a good quality aftermarket on my Silverado a few years back and ended up with ABS issues after. If I recall correctly, I had to modify the shims on the sensor to get them closer to the metal teeth on the hub. It was a pita, but never had any issues after. There's several factors that come into play, such as teeth dimensions, metallurgy, teeth distance to sensor, etc.

EDIT: Now that my memory is jogged, I remember I had to use the sensor that came with hub, and NOT the original ... and still had to modify shims to get everything working. Not sure why that was, but I think the old sensor was a just a smidge shorter than the new one. The new one being longer was probably by design by the hub maker based on the different tooth characteristics of the new hub. Again, this was a Silverado and not a Pilot.

I used a Mevotech hub . As far as the sensor I will pull it and see if could be damaged (which I doubt) ! If it isn’t damaged I am going to buy a scanner and maybe I can clear stuff and be ok ! yeah the Autel was one I am considering . That’s what I need is covering all modules ! I’ll have to see what clearance supposed to be on sensor ! Thanks good info

To be honest, it looks like the DS708 reads everything, but I would call Autel and talk to them and be sure. I remember my purchase being a lot of research on the internet and still not necessarily knowing everything the MX808 would do. I ended up pulling the users manual and reading it to be sure. I chose the MX808 over others because you can program fobs with it using the "real deal" unique fob ID programming (or whatever it's called) instead of just cloning fobs. I've used that feature and it works as advertised.

... or works as NOT advertised I should say. Apparently the users manual and some dude on YouTube think it can program fobs, but Autel customer service said I need their special key programmer to program fobs. The user's manual and the YouTuber were in fact correct. :)

I forgot to update my post ! I jumped the gun on the last replied ! Indeed the warning lights did go out after the new sensor was installed but as soon as I started out of driveway all light came back on (frustrated) ! So I started checking the new sensor and wasn’t getting a signal ! I then started checking any problem with the new rotor ! It ended up the hub/bearing I bought and installed was listed AWD but does not have the anti lock brake sensor ! So I installed the old one which ended up was not bad but the ring off the cv axle had come off and was rubbing n making noise ! It’s been ok since ! I did end up buying a Foxwell NT604 ELITE which gives a more in depth scanning ! Thanks guys n I hope this might help some people !
