Hello,

I just bough a 2007 2WD EX-L with Nav, Aberdeen Green, from David McDavid Honda in Frisco, TX. I paid invoice ($31,339) and got them to include a cargo cover, cargo tray and rear spash guards in that price. Also, got them to pay about $500 over kbb price for my trade, thanks to a super high quote from carmax that I used as leverage. Their initial quote on my trade was $1100 below kbb. I got them to match the lowest price I found on the web for the hondacare extended warranty. 8yrs, 120K miles, $0 deductable for $1285. They also beat my Capital One loan rate of 6.35%, giving me 6.09%. Overall, they gave me everything I asked for and it only took about an hour to negotiate, which makes me think I should have asked for more.

Hope this is helps someone as much as all the previous posts helped me.

Just bought a 2007 EX-L 2WD with RES for the wife. Bought it from Courtesy Honda in Sanford, Florida. They are an Autonation Dealer.

Sticker Price was $34,140, which included a $595 destination charge.

They agreed to $29,600 for the Pilot and gave us $21,500 for our trade (Pontiac Solstice). We had negotiated the same $29,600 for the same Pilot at a dealer in Deland but they were only giving us $21,000 for the Solstice. We told the Deland dealer if they came up to 21,500 on trade we would do the deal, but they wouldn’t budge. My wife called Courtesy Honda and told then 29,600 for an EX-L RES pilot and 21,500 for the trade. They agreed on the phone. She had gone by Courtesy earlier without me, and she had them appraise her Solstice. Courtesy had already agreed to giver her 21,500, that is why we held out for the extra $500 from the other dealer.

When we were doing the paperwork, Courtesy stuck us with a $ 599 “Dealer Fee”. We protested, but it seemed like they weren’t budging so we agreed to the “Dealer Fee”. I’m not sure if the other dealer would have charged the fee, but I’m pretty sure they would have too. The final breakdown for the 2WD Pilot EX-L RES is as follows:

Sale Price w/ Destination Charge: $29,600
Dealer Service Fee: $599
Florida Battery and Tire Fee: $8.50
Sales Tax: $522.39
County Tax: $50.00
Title and Tags: $150.00

Total Price: $30,929.89 out the door

2WD or 4WD?

This is a great example of why you want to get everything in writing (email) before ever talking to a stealer and LONG before ever going to the dealer in person. Everything from the price of the car to fees to availability of the specific unit.

It might still be a great deal but when they pull stunts like that it makes you wonder.

I'm pretty sure that every dealer charges a "dealer service fee" or "document fee" on new (and used) cars. In South Florida these usually range from $199 to $799. Unless stated specifically, these fees are not part of the "negotiated price". As a buyer, you should always ask what the "dealer fee" is BEFORE negotiating and then take it into account with the purchase price. The worst is Toyota, their fees here are $800 plus there is a seperate Southeast Toyota regional fee on top of that - talk about $ealers!

I was pretty adamant with the dealer that my price was out the door, including all options, fees and taxes. They seemed to believe me, since the finance guy didn't even try to sell me an extended warranty. I wanted one, so I had to ask him to add it.

I paid 32,100 (including destination charge) for a 2007 Honda Pilot 4WD EX-L with Navi last week at a Philly Suburb dealer. The dealer threw in some stuff like rear mud-guards, wheel locks and cargo-net.
Many Thanks to the contributions in this site as well as edmunds for zeroing in on good price points.

Other than that, I paid 165$ for title/tags and thats it. No other dealer fees.
Overall, It was a good experience since i did most of the back and forth quotes over email and the dealer kept to his promise of no extra fees.
They didnt even try to do a hard sell on dealer installations or extra warranty.
I tried to get a better price from 3 other local Honda dealers and no one else could come as low as this quote. They were atleast 400-500$ higher.

I am a happy camper so far, except for the ridiculously low city mileage I am seeing right now. I think I am getting 12-14 miles a gallon, but ofcourse my commute involves a lot of stop and go kind of traffic..

Hi gang,

First post here. As you guess, I'm trying to be a Pilot owner. I was trying to get quotes on local Bay-Area dealers through Edmunds.com. The lowest I got was $29,388 at Serramonte for an 07 4WD EX-L. Currently, they're offering 2.9%... that is OAC as usual. I recently bought my 03 Accord through Honda Financial this past week. Long story but pretty much, my friend went through Patelco Credit Union and they cut her a check to just pay my buyout price. So HFS should be getting that soon--hope to have some customer loyalty points within the system.

Anyways, I was originally going to just grab some accessories with the Pilot such as: crossbar, running boards, cargo tray + cover through the dealer. But after finding out about this site, it seems that I can grab them for less and just install it myself. But then again, I guess it doesn't hurt to see if the dealer can throw those in at a very cheap cost, or match the competitive pricing that are on aftermarket sites. With that, I'm just wondering if someone in the area recently bought a Pilot and which dealer they recommend to get a great price, extras and great financing?

Thanks in advance.

I picked up an 2007 AWD EX-L with RES for $31,488, including destination, but not tax or license earlier this week.

The dealer was also offering AWD EX-Ls for $29,990, including destination, but not tax or license fees.

The transaction went smoothly and very good service from the dealer.

piku,
i bought through anderson in palo alto at the end of october. they were offering ex-l 4wd for 30300. just before i purchased they offered an additional 1000 off for 29,300. that was the best i could do within 100 miles. after they made a small ( 1,400 ) error, i ended up with the pilot for 27,900. good luck.

Scruffy1, where in WA did you get your deal? Sounds too good to be true for a Seattle or surrounding vicinity . . .
I picked it up a AWD - EXL - RES on Monday for $31488 from the Jay Lee Honda dealership in Gladstone Oregon, about 7 miles from downtown Portland. I don't know what their "floor" sales people are like, but their internet guy was very helpful.

Earler today, I was talking to a friend who had recently bought a Honda mini-van. He also shopped around and bought from the same dealer. He had a similar positive experience.

As far as dealerships go, the place is old and run down, so don't expect the flash or bagels and lattes that some others have. They are apparently building a new place next door, so things may improve. Since I wasn't there for any of that, I don't care what the place looks like. I just wanted the Pilot at a fair price and not too much hassle.

I've got to say, I wasn't extremely price conscious. Others may have gotten a better or worse deal. Instead, I was just looking for what I thought was a fair deal, and I think I got it, with very little difficulty.

When I was there on Monday, they had a ton of Pilots sitting around. Far more than any other dealer I visited, which may have something to do with how much they are willing to deal.

I'm assuming this is an 06--that price is too good to be true for an 07 =)

Piku, this was for an 07 awd exl. As I said, the original price was to be 30,300 and then they had a 3 day offer of 1,000 less for pilots, odesseys, and ridgelines. That put the price at 29,300. Then they made an error and I paid 27,900 plus tax and doc. Even without the error the price of 29,300 was a great deal.

Wow... actually reminds me of my encounter with a dealership--they quoted me for a CR-V OTD price for a Pilot 4WD EX-L (go figure). I don't know if it was right to keep my mouth shout and say... "So, what's the catch?" ... but yah, I didn't. It was just too good to be true I guess.
