Snow tire chain recommendations?

I’m looking for recommendations for snow chains for my 20” black OEM wheels with 245/50/20 tires that will not ruin the rims. Snow tires aren’t an option since I live in the SF Bay Area, so we’d only need chains for the occasional trip to Tahoe. Thanks in advance everyone!

i had JUST came from tahoe this wkd (I'm also from the SF bay) and got these last month:

Amazon.com: Security Chain Company ZT735 Super Z LT Light Truck and SUV Tire Traction Chain - Set of 2: Automotive

These are the recommended chain mentioned in the owner manual. Install was easy, and they did not mess up my 20" touring wheels. I do recommend you do a dry run BEFORE you leave, that way you can avoid paying someone $30 to install/$20 to remove.

While i do have AWD, i got these chains just in case the OEM all season tires were not good enough for chain control.

I second this recommendation. SCC cable chains are some of the best and installation is easy.

yea i left Tahoe at 830a sunday (weather tracker said there was a break in the snow storm, which was going to pick up later that afternoon), so i made it out of there easy. anyone leaving later were pretty much stuck there, as they started to close roads.

I only got a pair for the fronts. i believe the owners manual states only put on the front. Also, i recommend getting some gloves (Harbor freight, or garden gloves) since the gloves that come with the set are pathetic plastic.

Consider maybe at least some of the other all weather options when you need to replace. Are snows not an option because of too much hot weather? How much skiing?

I go for snows as I get 4-5 years out of them and they are only a couple hundred more than my deductible if I hit something. I also don't want to be stuck on a hill. My EX-L has the 18" and TireRack recommends them (Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport) but when you read customer reviews, Good for wet and dry, horrible tread life, and safety hazard in snow. All the AWD and Safety systems maximize what they can but are still limited by 4 small contact patches made by the tires.

Read all the reviews on your model tire.

For sf bay area residents, dedicated snows are not all that beneficial (generally speaking, overall) since it doesnt snow in the bay area at all. but lake tahoe is about 150 miles east, so for someone that only goes to the snow a handful of times a year, snow tires are not really worth it.
