Remote start - did it work?

Is there a way to tell if our Pilot actually started? We are using the key fob to start it. My wife goes through the starting procedure from her office daily. Most of the time it works and she comes out to a warm car. Sometimes it doesn't. I think she is on the outer edge of it's range. She can't actually see the Pilot so she can't tell if lights are flashing or not. She thought the blinky lights on the remote meant something. I just assumed it was blinking showing it was transmitting.

I had a Chevy SS (Holden Commodore) and using the Onstar app, I could tell that it actually started. I could started it miles away if I wanted to...

I just did an experiment to confirm that the lights on the remote do not indicate communication with the vehicle:

I went about 450ft away from the vehicle, and actuated the remote start sequence on my remote with my hand reaching into a steel locker. The lights indicated as usual. Then walked back to the vehicle and confirmed that it had not started.

I found a workaround to tell if the Pilot has been remotely started, however, it only works when it’s dark enough for the auto headlight to turn on and only if you can see the Pilot.

If you started the Pilot remotely, and from a distance you can see it but can’t tell if it started, then press the unlock button on the remote. If it started then the headlights and tail lights will turn on, if it’s dark enough for the auto headlights to turn on.

Can anyone tell me what the range is of the remote start? I asked my sales person and he said 60 feet, but he seemed uncertain.

Manual says 60 yards if no obstructions.
