Radiator hose spring clamp vs worm clamp?

Just ran into a thread about not using worm-drive clamps on your radiator hoses.

I was about to pick up a couple of stainless clamps as i know at least two of the spring clamps are real rusty on the 2004.

The post said don't use the worm-drive clamps as you could crack the plastic inlets they are over.

Isn't this just a matter of "don't tighten too much?" I didn't pick up the spring clamps in my big order... and local dealer wants $14 a piece for them....

As you've found out, the advantage of the spring clamps is that they can't be over-tightened and if you do over-tighten the spring drive type, there is the risk of damaging the plastic inlet/outlet on the radiator.

The made-for-Honda spring clips/clamps shouldn't be more than $7 each, unless your dealer is gouging.
You can use the estore.honda.com site to check parts prices at local dealers.
Also, check prices with any Acura dealers in your area.
