Hi all,

Anyone experience this? I have about 3k miles on the car. Was driving at highway speeds no cars around me, all of a sudden brakes and the pulsating engagement kicked in for about 1 second and then disappeared.

wanted to ask if there were sensors I need to clean to ensure more adequate operations.

thank you!

Assuming you were using the ACC etc I have had this occur either twice or thrice. As @Bigwave indicated it’s the CMBS.

The system may be misinterpreting a shadow, a reflection on the glass…..something the system incorrect perceives as an object and conclude the vehicle is going to have a collision.

According to the manual even certain radio waves can be an issue.

I just put my foot on the gas pedal to override the system in all cases.

Check out the limitations on pg. 577 of the manual and see if the circumstances align.

Going straight. No cruise or any self drive turned on. Just driving on highway with all safety functions turned on
wanted to ask if there were sensors I need to clean to ensure more adequate operations.
Even though you didn't have cruise and lane keep assist turned, at highway speeds the CMBS is activated and uses the same sensors, radar & camera as in my scenario.

Those are the areas that should be kept clean. Limitations are the same.

My friend has a Traverse that auto brakes on the highway sometimes. At first she thought there was no reason for it but eventually she realized it only happens when the distance from a barricade or guardrail gets closer to her car. It doesn't do it every time but it's always in the same type of spot when it does. If you were on wide open highway that won't be the cause, but if you were on a road like the one in this picture it could be. The lane stays straight but the shoulder gets narrower.
