My previous 2012 EX-L and current 2015 Touring constantly turn on and off the passenger Airbag sensor when my wife is traveling with me. She's sort of vertically challenge and the moment she relax and stop sitting straight... we get a notice that the passenger airbag sensor has been turned off.... on the 2012 it was sort of acceptable/not that noticeable... on the 2015... its annoying at best. The whole driver info panel goes orange and it doesn't change until she adjust her position in the seat...

Anyone figure this one out yet? I haven't brought it up to the stealership because it appears its just bad luck that my wife is not "runaway model" tall. I don't mind digging, taking stuff apart on my own to fix this so if you got any ideas, please let me know.

(Don't tell me to ask my wife to grow... been there, it just made this go from "meh.." to " FIT IT!")

The same thing happens..

The same thing happens when my 8 yr old son (64lbs) sits I the front seat. Apparently his weight is right on the setting for the air bag sensor. What is really amazing, is that if he shifts his weight to look at the side window, the side air bag is deactivated (for his protection).

The sensor is designed to shut off the airbag if the person is not positioned safely.

CRVs had some early problems with the sensors being too touchy. It might be worth asking a dealer. (Or just tell them to stop leaning over, like I had to do with my daughter in the CRV)

I understand your desire to fix the problem yourself and I could see messing with it if it's was a 2012. That said it's also a complex safety system that would be better left to the dealer esp on the 2015 you have a bumper to bumper Warranty. Most States have a lemon law to protect buyers you might want to look into it prior to taking it in and find out what is required to qualify if they are unable to fix the problem

I do not think this is a problem but this is how it is designed for safety if the person sitting there is too small. It also prevent it from activating in an accident if there is not person there but some other stuff there to save cost of deployment of the airbag.

It happens with my wife if she shift around as well. I think the sensor is place such that a shorter and lighter person it is kind of on the edge.
