Metal noise when turning off

Hello There,

In my last service for change oil, I mentioned to my service advisor about a usual metal noise (looks like under the hood) every time when I turning off the engine and they explained to me that it is not anything to be concerned. However, this noise catches my attention every time I turn off the engine and most of the time when I get the vehicle into my garage obviously due to the closed space.

Has somebody had the same experience?

I would appreciate share some similar experience or any comment or advice or how did you fix it?

Thanks very much in advance

Heard a metallic sound twice turning off my engine after a timing belt change. Car was in the garage. The sound wasn't there before the change. Timing was correct. All oem honda parts used (not from eBay). The only exception is the serpentine belt was still off and the coolant was only half full. I'll finish up the TB service tomorrow and see if the sound persists. 2007.

Finished the service and road tested the car. No issues and that shutdown noise is gone.

After carefully timing the engine b/f removing the old belt, the back cam moved out of alignment at some point installing the new belt. When it was all said and done I had to independently move both cams and the crankshaft (even a slight turn <5 degrees CCW) to get the belt tight and timing aligned. I think the key is never turning any shaft more than a few degrees independently of each other.

Wish I could call it skill, but I think I just got lucky doing the job myself. There were some tense moments.

Oh, and watch that parallax effect on the back cam timing marks. I was about to redo the belt b/c I thought it was out of timing, but after checking it at a square-on angle I saw everything was aligned.

OK, now back to the OP's thread LOL.

On my 08, sometimes when I put it in reverse to back out of the garage, I hear a faint, metal rattling sound. I'm pretty sure it's like a muffler heat shield or something, put in in drive and go and the sound is gone. Runs like a champ.
