I like this quote as I think it would be nice if the pilot had more towing capability for families who want to pull a travel trailer of a moderate size.
"Specifically, Honda says that the North American market will get a new hybrid system meant for larger vehicles, which Honda says will provide "powerful driving performance, high towing capability, and high environmental performance." Honda says this will be fitted to products that show up in the latter portion of this decade, and we think a next-generation Pilot seems like a likely choice"

It might not be on a Pilot initially. They said it would start with the 2027 model year. But we don't know what vehicle they will start with. I'm guessing the 2027 Odyssey will be all-new and sport the new Hybrid powertrain. Does anyone think that this new hybrid will be put on any current platforms or only all-new ones that haven't been released yet. We should have an all-new Ridgeline and Odyssey soon. Doesn't Honda say this Hybrid powertrain will only be 10% better fuel efficiency. That seems very poor compared to the Hybrid Accord and Cr-v.

I don't think anyone buying a 3-row hybrid crossover SUV is really thinking they are going to get the same mileage as hybrid sedan.

Grand Highlander Hybrid FWD 37/34 (and it gets lower with AWD & Hybrid Max) vs Camry Hybrid 53/50 vs Rav4 Hybrid 41/38.

Here is my wish spec for the hybrid Honda Pilot....

1. V6 Akinson w/ aggressive VCM + Stop/Start feature that runs on 0w-5+ let's keep the timing belt
2. Plug in charge capable + liquid cooled traction battery min 200K miles warranty
3. ECVT w/ life time ATF fluid
4. Rear Electric Motor + the propeller shaft delete. make that 2 motors for super torque vectoring
5. No spare tires b/c of the traction battery and 2 rear motors
6. Electric Brake Booster and Accumulator--brake vac system delete
7. eco friendly tires for max MPG (let's make that run flat eco friend if such thing exist)
8. Aggressive electric braking for lifetime brake pad/rotors

Just kidding...lessons learned from a long term Toyota hybrid ownership....LOL

Let's not get to optimistic Honda fans. Honda/Acura barely changes wheel designs on mid-cycle refreshes so they certainly aren't adding a hybrid to the current design. Remember the Pilot is built off the MDX platform and not the other way around. Also, the previous generation MDX hybrid used a smaller 3.0L (as did the RLX). It was pretty impressive with a combined 321 HP / 289 Torque. The key would be to figure out when a new MDX might be introduced. You have '22-'24 and the mid-cycle refresh for '25. The last generation lasted 7 years (2014-2020). That means we probably have '25 to '28 with this platform. I just got a memo '26 production starts next month. My highly educated guess would be Summer of '28 production would begin on a 2029 Hybrid MDX.

Honda said it would start with the 2027 model year and take four years. So maybe the Odyssey and Ridgeline will be first to be Hybridized. Then maybe the all-new Pilot will be next. Remember Honda has been getting two refreshes out of its large platform vehicles recently. So maybe this generation of Pilot will be hybridized but at the next refresh. I don't think that Acura's will also get the hybrid powertrain. Maybe down the road there is a more performance version that is the Acura products. Acura buyers generally are not concerned about fuel economy as much as Honda buyers.

What unit starts production next month? Pilot or Mdx??

Given the many issues with these vehicles as cited in the numerous Pilot threads, who in their right mind would add the hybrid issues into an already issue plagued vehicle, and expect someone to actually buy it? This made me chuckle.

I have a 2010 that has been well maintained by the previous owner. Very clean inside and out, service records etc., and generally it's a vehicle I would never buy again.

I recently had a valet service after rain the previous night. When I got out and gave the valet the keys he noticed the water dripping from the open drivers door, like literally from the middle of the door from front to back. He mentioned it and I told him "yeah, it's happens every time it rains." He looked at the door/window seals and all in very good condition. We just laughed and I told him I'd never buy another Honda product.

It's been raining a lot lately. I need to go open my door and drain the water out of this :poop: mobile.

Bro - looking back at your posts. You own a 2010 Pilot, and for some reason post on the 2023+ board over and over about how much of a "turd" your 15 year old used car is. Why don't you just change your username to NeverHondaEver and join all the other trolls?
