When gas door is shut edges are not flush with body. Anyone else have this? Is there a dealer fix out yet? Thanks

Had/have this same problem. The very first time, had to push really hard to close it. Now it's about a 50/50 chance of it closing perfectly or requiring a hard push. Good to know it's an easy dealer fix.

As for it being closed flush to the body, I would say it's a hair off of being perfectly flush. Maybe the adjustment by the dealer to fix the hard closing will take care of this as well.

I had a very difficult time closing the door w/o forcing it and was afraid I would damage it by doing so. Since the dealer made the adjustment (took only minutes) I've had absolutely no problems with the door and it's flush w/the body and no leaks inside from the weather.

BTW, the dealer acknowledged more than one Pilot had been delivered to them with the same problem.

Mine closes fine but it's not flush to perfection. It's one of a couple of other things I will mention to the dealer when I bring it in this week, the other being the center console to the right of the gear stick, the gap on the passenger side of the console is larger than the drivers side. On another note, the passenger side of the hood was not as flush as the drivers side. Dealer addressed it by pushing in the rubber bumper.

As far as the door not flush and you wanted to do it yourself (sometimes mechanics don't care about your car as much you do) , inside the door you'll see where the release pin goes through the latch. That latch has a little tab that can be bent to adjust the door.
The same thing could be done (to pull the door in a little) by wrapping tape around the pin.

JoeShark, just use your thumb to push in a tiny bit and will make the door flush.

zchfxyzh, don't really need the dealer to do it. It's very easy just push in the latch tab a bit (note, do not try to bend the spring lock pin inside the door).

Finally made some time to do this. I put tape on the tab and bent it towards the front with needle nose pliers . It fits good with tape, so I left it on, we'll see if it lasts.:)

Stories about some dealers (mostly service managers) kill me. It's not so much they don't know, its that they'll do anything not to have to bring a car in for warranty work.
Just like in the seat heater thread, owners with issues getting told all kinds of crazy reasons that their heaters are fine and 'that's how they're supposed to work'..cripes.
Worked as a mechanic 40 yrs ago (MB, Volvo, BMW dealer) for a few yrs. and saw these service managers/writers in action. They'd give it a shot and most people would believe them and not come back.

My gas tank door was protruding out very slightly. I just bent the latch on the door ever so slightly in towards the door itself (so the door would have to travel slightly further to reach the pin). It's not easy to bend, make sure you use your Left hand on the door (to support it and not harm the hinges) and push in with your right hand.

Fuel Filler Door not Flush

Absolutely thrilled with our EX-L AWD, happy to report that we're not experiencing any of the more serious issues being reported by other forum members.

One of the few little items I've noticed, which is not really a functional issue but more of an annoyance is the fit of the fuel filler door. It's centered on its body opening, but is proud of the surrounding body panel at the latch end by about 1/8". If looking along the rear quarter from the rear of the car, it's pretty obvious that the door is not flush with the body.

I don't see any way to adjust the rod that I'm assuming is directly coupled to the opener solenoid. I suppose I could bend the latch on the door itself a tiny bit to draw the door in a bit when closed. The hinge side is perfectly flush with the body.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with their filler door.

Currently at the dealership for my gas door. It's not flush and after a fill up it was really difficult to close. On top of that there was a gas odor in the cabin. The gas cap seal is functioning properly and there was no check engine light. Keep you guys posted on this.

Ok so the gas door works fine now and is flush. They applied the audio update and pressurized the fuel system for leaks and everything passed. Odd occurrences today, hopefully I'm ok now.
