Creaking Noises when accelerating from a stop...

My pilot has a creaking noise when I accelerate from a stop. It happens whether I accelerate hard or easy. It happens when the weight of the vehicle is transferring to the rear upon acceleration. I can hear it when the windows are open or closed.

I have a feeling it might be a suspension related issue, but want to see if anyone has experienced this before taking it to the dealer and then I get the "sorry we can't duplicate the problem" BS. What was the solution?

I'm not sure if it is the same clicking problem as others have posted, which turned out to be the screws securing the dash. Their symptoms seem to happen only inside the cabin or heard from inside only.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi GregC - I also have this noise. I purchased my 2007 EX-L 2WD Silver Pilot just 7 days ago but started noticing this sound right away. First thought it was license plate rattling or rubbing but I have eliminated that.

Just today I loaded quite a bit of weight (luggage) into cargo area with 3rd row seat down and the creaking/squeaking noise intensified immediately when I start driving vehicle.

I to am curious if this is a known problem before I return to dealership. Let me know if you find out anything.

Thanks!

I haven't had time to run to the dealership and have them check it out. I've been hearing it more from the driver's side front corner. Maybe the strut is bad.

It definitely occurs whenever there is a shift of the weight from the front to the back or diagonally.

I definitely did not hear it when I drove off the lot. Something has definitely changed.

I'll post back when I've gotten it repaired.

It definitely doesn't sound like it can be just ignored like that other person stated in their first message/response/post.

Sure sounds like either the dash mounting or steering column bolts. Have your dealer call Honda tech support about it.;)

I took advice given on different forum and it seems to have helped and nearly eliminated the problem.

Inside the coils (huge spring) on the rear suspension at the bottom of the coil is rubber material. I got underneath my pilot and had my 150 lb. son stand on rear bumper and bounce car up and down and I could definitely hear this rubber material making the sqeauking noise.

I went to local Autozone store and purchase silicon lubricant in spray can and got back underneath Pilot and coated the rubber material as good as I could. I then gave it the bounce test again and there was no more squeaking noise.

I have not noticed the sound anymore while driving since then.

these noises are just suspension bushings of one form or another - poly is used now in a lot of suspension components, so it could be a swaybar or any other component - mine does it as well - no biggie for me.

So I finally had time to bring the Pilot into the dealership to get the creaking noise checked out and repaired. I thought it was a bad strut because as time went on, there was a clunk developing as well.

The service center repaired the problem. It was a bolt that was coming loose on the lower control arm. The tech checked all the rest of the suspension bolts and nuts to make sure they were torqued properly.

No more creaking and clunking noise! It was traced to the driver's side lower control arm.

Thanks for everyone's input and ideas.

Similar noise from rear of vehicle?

Bought new 2007 Pilot 2WD on 7/4/07/within days noticed creaking, rattling or similar noise which seemed to be coming from left rear/thought it might be strut or coil/dealer kept car for 3 days/first replaced left strut then replaced control bar/almost eliminated noise/within one week noise returned/worse with weight in rear cargo area/most noticeable at low speed on dips in road and right turns where weight of car shifts to rear left/will follow up after dealer looks at car this week
