Alright so my next oil change is coming up and was thinking about changing my oil, ever since we got it from the dealer we been using conventional and some bug got me in where I am now thinking if I should stick to conventional, synthetic, or synthetic blend. Currently my Pilot has 126,000 miles already done the 100K maintenance. Can any of you give me a feedback what you are using and how do you feel about it. Also I understand that I need to do a flush in which I kinda know the process but not sure how to fully do it.

Mobil 1 5W-30 changed when MM says so, usually about 5.5K-6K. Filter change with Honda filter every oil change.

You can read for hours on conventional vs. synthetic. Either is fine, do whatever you feel comfortable with. I think synthetic is probably worth the small price difference, but it can be argued either way. Even the term "synthetic" is not clearly defined.

Engine flushes are totally unnecessary on an engine that has had regular oil changes and could even be harmful. Honda doesn't recommend them.

No need to "flush" the engine for any oil change. All API motor oil spec'd for your vehicle will mix, conventional, synthetic or blends. Oil change with filter replacement takes 4.5 quarts.

No reason to flush. Today's oils are compatible with each other... Switch back and forth as much as your heart desires.

I dont put too much thought in conventional vs syn. Change your oil on time and you will be fine. The rest is pretty much personal preference.

I didn't understand the "flush" question to be with respect to changing from conventional to synthetic. On this subject, the idea that conventional and synthetic oils are somehow incompatible with one another which requires a 'flush" when you switch is one of the strangest and most persistent misconceptions about engine oils that has been propagating for decades. It is bizarre. The idea is made even more ludicrous in the last decade as synthetic-conventional blends became popular.

I change the oil on my pilot with 216k miles every "15,000" miles using a fully synthetic Mobil 1 5w/30 extended performance since it was 100k miles.
