People have been asking about diagnostic tools and I posted about buying this unit. Some people are interested in them and want to hear about my experience. So here goes.
This was purchased from OBD2ESHOP.com a couple of years ago. The site is still in business. The package arrived a month or so later in good condition with all the advertised pieces in it. I purchased this particular item because it came with the latest software which at that time was version 3.103.066. I installed the software on a Dell Latitude E6420 laptop. It runs fine. I'm running Windows 11 on the computer.
The setup was the weak point. There were hoops to jump through getting it installed. If you read and follow the instructions carefully it does run and work. The only exception seems to be the immobilizer module which seems to need a seperate program that generates an access code. That program seems to be obsolete to the best of my knowledge. This means registering new keys on the vehicle is not possible. If anyone has a way of getting it to work, please post your results.
As far accessing the rest of the program modules it seems to work fine. This is a cracked piece of software so there is no registering the software needed. Log in information is provided. There is not much training information included so self learning is pretty much the only way to learn it, but there is some information available on YouTube. The car service manual does give directions on procedures as part of diagnosing problems. I have not seen directions in the manual specifically about how to use the unit however.
I wish I have a great story of saving 1000s of dollars doing a DIY repair, but so far I have not needed to fix anything. I have only needed to do basic maintenance on my 2011 Pilot. I have hooked it up to the vehicle a few times and looked around. Locked and unlocked the doors through the keyboard etc.
So for the price of it I'd say it is worth it. The 3rd party tablets that cover dozens of vehicles seem pretty nice. Given that I don't really need a $500-600 tablet, this purchase seems to have been a reasonable bet so far.
