i am in the market for the best dash cam and i want to use some advice before buying. My main priorities are reliability, video quality (day & night), and ease of use.
After reading expert reviews from trusted sources like Consumer Reports, Wirecutter, and Car and Driver, two models consistently stand out as top recommendations:

REDTIGER F7N Touch Dash Cam

Miofive S1 Ultra Dash Cam
https://www.amazon.com/Miofive-S1-Ultra/dp/B0D2KTJWG6?th=1

i am having trouble deciding which one would best suit my needs. i mostly want coverage for everyday commuting, family trips, and the occasional long drive on highways. My budget is flexible but the quality and durability of the product matter the most.
So which one would you recommend? Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I have the RedTiger F7N hardwired so parking mode will activate when someone mess with my Pilot. Sure the screen is tiny but thats not a concern cause its all caught on video anyway and you can watched the footage on your phone via RedTiger App and you'll be able to zoom in and out the video.

You need to add, where do you want your cameras to face. There's front, rear, and passengers. Also do you have a size preference?

I have the very small Garmin as only my front, you can add another rear one but I have my reasons for only a front. I wanted it hidden and out of the way so no screen for me. It uses a SD card for me which is easy to pop out and put in my computer. There is a decent app but it's kinda slow and I'm decent at computer usage.

I've been hit 2 times (side and back/side) and the front was sufficient enough, I figured if they hit me from the back my car wouldn't be immobilized.

I also have it hard wired to the fuse, if you're not doing that I recommend running the wire tucked into the headliner and A pillar to the plug. It shouldn't interfere with the airbag if that's your concern.

First of all, I absolutely support your decision to install dashcam. Hopefully you will never need the recording, but sometimes dash cam captures something interesting (and not an accident).

DashCamTalk forum has lots of info about various dashcams, issues and user experiences.
Some of the cheaper brands advertize "4K", but it is not real resolution.

I have VIOFO A229Pro in my vehicles, and while it works well, it is subject to random reboots, which can be caused by camera overheating (one known issue for that model) or unstable power supply.

With that said, I currently investigating potential replacements:
  • the new Vueroid S1 Infinite - Korean, design priority "set and forget" reliability at any temperature
  • new VIOFO A329T - comes with normal 4K front camera and telephoto - much easier to read license plates - better thermal design/better power supply, but 3 camera combo (front 4K, telephoto, rear) is pricey :(

However, your needs is what should define your choices. What are your priorities - other than reliability?

@xGS - I was literally checking the same videos last night :)

VIOFO A229 Pro - I own 2, and I can't recommend them at this point. Yes, daytime footage is good quality, but they are prone to overheating - there are long threads on this... Hence my recommendation for S1 - very similar video quality, but much higher thermal reliability, or more expensive A329T which allegedly improved thermals...
