The OP lives in Texas though and there is no way around the 6.25% sales tax. Funny numbers and questionable dealer tactics aside, the Cars MSRP was $54,475 or $54,930 depending on color. If OP’s OTD price was 53,497, and paid $3146 in tax, they basically got a $4100-$4600 discount from sticker (depending on color) which hit their 7-10% off MsRP target and is a decent deal overall. Plus they got some freebies thrown in, and it’s not even 2025 yet. Enjoy the ride!
Don't forget the "optional" dealer processing fees. In MD it's $799! Bastids!

Dumbest rule ever on any forum I've ever been a part of. Discourages this type of conversation.
A truly moronic rule.
It is not a forum rule as far as I know. It is only applicable to that sticky. That thread is intentionally focused on prices paid. I happen to like it because it removes a lot of off topic commentary.

You can comment on this thread or start your own thread if you have something you want to share.

I got a 25 Black Edition for $53.7k OTD in the Houston area that matched Burelson in the DFW area. I personally would have them remove the LoJack and the pinstripe removed.

We purchased our 25 Elite at Mckinney Honda in DFW. And what is shown Lojack, etc is already installed on your vehicle. It was on every Elite we reviewed. But, negotiate the price you want and I think you will be happy with the vehicle overall.

It's added at the dealer level. Not corporate Honda. That junk doesn't come from the factory. Its a minimal cost to the dealers and they install it and insist the customer purchase it because they have HUGE margins on it. It ABSOLUTELY is NOT already installed on your vehicle. You are allowing them to install it by not demanding it be removed before purchase.

My goal is to add value to the discussion. Not here to debate just to add value and share my experiences as well.

I am in the peoples republic of Kalifornia. I recently purchased a '25 Pilot Black Edition. No excessive doc fees ($85), sales tax is high (9.5%), license fee are high too (about $650). I was able to get what I consider a "fair" deal, no add on's, MSRP $55,975, my sales price was $52,400 plus those fees. I got 2.9% for 36 months, put a large down payment, for a resonable payment. The dealer had everything ready when I arrived, I didn't need a features delivery, so we were on the road in less than an hour, no surprises. I'm happy, and love the vehicle

I bought a 24 civic from Honda of Fort Worth. I was told there was no LoJack on it, but I found it in my odb port with a a connection taking the place of my odb port. They get them cheap and add them to them all during the dealer delivery inspections.

This thread has turned into another OTD price thread even though there is one already stickied.

Admins, can we lock this thread to prevent further posts?
No discussion allowed on that thread. Which, again, is the dumbest thing I have ever seen on a forum.
Threads like these then HAVE to be created to then ask questions, solicit feedback and gain understanding.
This thread should absolutely NOT be locked for the very reason that the stickied thread is worthless for discussion.

I see your point.

Hi all

I just purchased a 2025 Honda Pilot Elite for an out-the-door price of $53,497 in the Dallas area, which includes some dealer-installed upgrades I didn’t really want. The dealer adjusted the price to accommodate the installed upgrades and meet my negotiated OTD price. I was aiming for a 7% to 10% discount off MSRP. What are your thoughts on this deal? I hope it helps future buyers with their negotiations. See attached for more details.

First of all Congrats on your 2025 Honda Pilot purchase. It's always best to purchase extended warranty for any Honda automobile as the maintenance costs are high for Hondas.

They sure made some money.
I would have only done wheel locks, pin stripe( only if painted one), door edge guards.
Other items you can get from weather tech & do own install.
Sorry, but you got taken on stuff & prices.

That is outrageous. Lojack or none, a thief will stral the car. T mobile has a device similar what insurance companies ask us to out on to monitor driving habits and offer discounts for $10/mo. Weathertec mats from the trunk is only $350 and way better protection than honda mats. Plus, they come with only the 2 front windows needing to be tinted that I can get done for $150 using the ceramic material that provides better uv deflection. If they don’t have what i want to take, I would’ve walked away. I own a 2020 touring and not desperate to get on a new Pilot

No matter all the add-ons, the OTD price you paid is exactly what i paid for my elite, less all the addons you received. However, I got mine 2 months ago and live in NY.

just run out the door and see how fast they drop all the dealer nonsense. I have fixed budgets when financing, if they cannot meet my monthly payments oh well the interwebs will, you can post what you want, options you want, and competing dealers will either deliver you the car, or shun you. Don't be fooled by upgrades or the idea 'Ohhhh we have several people in line" good sell it to them. If you qualify for credit look to the web for finance, then spring it on a dealer you have your own and see how fast they meet the quote, you'll be surprised,. Look I know many of us went thru the same money and finance issues, now? For us not so much anymore. I bought our 21 PP 150 miles from our home during C19, they had three on the lot, TS wasn't out yet, wife was dying for a PP, sooo we bought. The finance guy pissed me off I mean royally, he banged my credit 7 times hard to drop my 835 down to 610, proving I was not able for lower interest. Funny Huh? Soooo I said as we sat there sell it to my wife and on my phone had her score of 850, he went white, during our talking finance guy says, oh I need you to do 90 days to season the loan or I don't get my commission. Ohh really, ok we'll see. Bought the car on a Friday, banks opened Monday I went in and paid off the new car loan. My wife had stolen almost all of the finance guys pens those ones with the special tips for tablet and phone use. They go for 20 bucks a pop. No cars were available near us, so I had driven, up by Orlando where it showed inventory. Never again. I am pushing into my 70's I wish a lot of you listen to my post, fight for what you want, remember almost every person at a dealership works on commission except the janitors, EVERYBODY, they are not your friends, they are basically leeching for a bigger payday.
