Hello fellow Piloteers,

I am having a similar issues that many 2016-17 Pilot owners are facing. After the car is parked and locked, the dash lights randomly come on and off, alarm goes off and behaves like how a ghost is operating my car. And this behavior is so random, and I do not know when this is going to happen. I tried taking this to a service tech, and the car didn't do this when I took it to his shop - was a waste of time and money. I have disconnected my car battery to avoid getting woken up in the middle of the night by this loud random alarm, and am reconnecting the battery everytime and using this car when absolutely required - has been truly frustrating.

From the experiences of other owners facing the same problem, they seem to have solved it by replacing the smart power control unit(38320-TG7-A52) and reprogramming the Key FOBs. I hate to take this to a dealer since they charge me a bomb for diagnosis(which might not be useful at all based on the experiences I have been reading), and the part/install/reprogram. Wondering if there is someone in the Houston area who has had luck solving a similar issue by using a local shop or service tech? Greatly appreciate the help!

I have the same issue what you had, I drive a 2016 Honda Pilot EXL during that time I had about 47000 miles on the car. Same problem you had with the dashboard lights glitching coming on like the car is possessed. Same thing with the alarm going off intermittently day and night. At first what I did was unhook the hood latch which disable the alarm going off but my dashboard still glitches, thus draining my battery. So I finally brought the car into Honda and told them to change out the Anti Theft Lock Main Control Unit is what they label it as and not do a diagnostic/testing which they will charge me for something that I know that will fixed the problem. The unit is right behind the glove box and your right about the key fobs being re-program. Everything cost me about $800, could have been $1000 if they didn't lose my set of keys which they call me and said they lost it so i have to drive back to the dealer with the spare key therefore they waived the re-programming fee for the key fob. If you can find another person that can re-program the keys do it if not take it to Honda. I did this back in December of 2022 and up until now I haven't had any problems with the alarm going off and the dashboard glitching. Keeping my finger crossed that it will last another 5-6 years before it comes back.

Thanks a lot. My 2017 Pilot EX-L has the same issue and I have already taken my car it to the dealer 3 times. As per the HONDA dealer, the battery is bad and I have it changed. But the issue still exist. Now i will do the same thing and let them to change the Anti Theft Lock Main Control Unit. Hopefully, it will work.

I've had this issue on and off for the last year. During all of my research I found this video
showing one of the Integrated Curciut on the Keyless Access Control Unit wasn't properly conformal coated. This allowed corrosion to build up on one of the pins, causing a short. I pulled my Keyless Access Control Unit apart and found corrosion on the exact same pin that is in the video. I cleaned it up and coated it with some erathane so it wouldn't happen again.
