Hello,

I have a 2016 Honda Pilot with 69500 K miles. I am aware of the 2016 Honda pilot emission problems from reading this forum (and the service bulletin). My check emmision light came on 12/1, also the Power steering system, trailer stability assist, Hill start assist, VSA assist light came on. i called Honda and set appt for 12/6. The lights did not come on since 12/2 . questions:

1) does the vehicle store the code? will they be able to pull up that these codes popped up? They mentioned they had to charge a $180 diagnostic fee just to look at the vehicle, and keep the fee if nothing is wrong . I am worried they will charge the fee and say nothing is wrong w vehicle

2)i will be taking the vehicle in for Latch recall / oil change anyways (can/will the diagnostic fee be waved?)

If you didn't have the codes cleared they should still be stored in the code history.
Some codes may reset themselves if they get the proper results when the system does it's self test at startup.
They should still show up in the codes history however.
Around here it's $180.00 for the first hour of diagnostics $160.00 per hour after that.
Waving of the fee would depend upon the dealer. If they have to hook up the diagnostic equipment to do the latch recall you may or may not get charged the fee.

Took the vehicle in today.... the "good news" is that they found the emissions code and they will cover the fuel injection service. thanks for everyone's contribution to this site i was able to get the knowledge and info on Honda covering the extended warranty (my other option was to take the car to a non Honda mechanic)

I would get yourself a code reader so that you will know the exact fault prior to heading to the dealership. That way there will be no surprises and it could save you in the long run. They are plug and play and easy to use and you can read the codes without clearing them.
