While trying to install some wiring for off road lights, I noticed a smell under the carpet and when I pulled it back was met with a ton of rust chunks. I shopvacc'ed them up and pushed on the metal to see the damage. Unfortunately it's almost a Flintstone car. I've never read anyone else having these issues and hope I'm the only one. MN car all year round since 2004. I'll be extensively cleaning and welding in some thicker patch panels to keep it going for a few more years but interested to see if anyone else knows about this?

I wish you well on this project. I gave up on my 2003 when the hitch was ready to fall off. This was after a successful rear subframe repair. Sometimes the rust wins.
