Anybody here can share the experience?

It took a while with the holidays and finally some snow for skiing to find the time to install the sensors. I ended up installing the on/off switch on the front driver panel, just under the four buttons below the mirror adjust.

Installation took me 12 hours from start to end with dinner break, video recording, figuring out the wiring to the front, wrapping the wiring with a tubing, finding the tubing, deciding to wrap the wires with tubing, etc. Yeah, I took my time with this. I bet a casual installation according to the instructions doesn't take more than 6 hours.

The crappy video, due to low light is on youtube:

It's amazing how little screws are used. Everything is just snapped together plastic. The hardest part was the removal of the side panel since the folded seat still pushes against it and prevents easy removal. Follow the instructions, especially when drilling holes (i.e. the outer sensors are 24mm while the inner sensors are 26mm; also the tab of the left outer sensor is on the top so you'll drill the big hole in the bottom pilot hole while the top one is used for all the other ones).

It'll take some time before I can comment on it's usage and usefulness since I just installed it and don't drive much on regular basis (i.e. I try to commute with my bicycle and keep my fuel consumption lower than some Prius owners ;) ). But I can already report that whenever you put your car into reverse it does a beep to assure you the backup sensing system is on, something that my 2003 Explorer Eddie Bauer didn't do.

If you have any questions ask while it's still fresh in my mind.

BTW, if you order the backup sensing be aware that there are two parts to purchase, the sensor and everything else. Some dealers sell both as a kit. So just double check when ordering.

Older thread here, but I had to come back and thank claus for the video. It gave me the confidence to do my install. I also installed the hands-free tailgate sensor, trailer hitch and trailer wiring at the same time on my 2019 EX-L. Took me the better part of both days this weekend. I agree the worst part of the installation is the removal/reinstallation of the interior side panel - what a PITA. Also, I found the switch wire for the hands-free tailgate to be too short, and I barely (and I mean barely), was able to get it connected before securing the panel. Even then, it kind of rotated the switch a little bit clockwise from its correct orientation, but I was so happy just to get it connected and working that I don't care that it's a little cockeyed - I'll probably be the only one who notices it anyway. Lastly, it was a pain routing the backup sensor subharness out through the tailgate - my hands kind of look like hamburger today.

I got the backup sensors done on Saturday (except for the switch connection because I was leaving the panel open for the other installations). There are a few minor differences on the 2019 kit - for example, the sensors are now all 16mm. My one little snafu was I managed to chip the corner of the left tail light assembly when removing the bumper - I must have pulled with some upward pressure and caught the corner - make sure you pull it straight out if you do this install.

I then installed the hands-free sensor, trailer hitch wiring and hitch on Sunday. Back-up sensors seem to work well and the hands-free sensor works great, too.

Thanks for the video. Gave me some tips on how to install third row USBs. Nice job by the way that's a lot of patience. You made me chuckle a few times. I still don't understand what that white handle lever looking thing does.

Do you know if the backup sensors are also used for the blindside monitors or are they separate sensors? The blindside monitor is the one thing I wanted on my Touring that didn't come standard. I wonder if adding the blindside monitor would just require a few additional wiring harness connected to the corner backup sensors?

You're talking about the Blind Spot Information System. I highly doubt that there is any shared component between these systems. I didn't find the accessory manual for the 2016 Honda Pilot backup sensor online but I found this manual from 2002 and it looks the same as the manual that I got. Parts might be identical to the 2002 system as well. ;) Notice the sensing distance of the corner sensor. No way it could be useful for checking the blind spot.

You'll need the Elite for that feature.

Blind Spot Information System has a different connection and sensor. If you go to hondapartsnetwork.com and go through the Elite you'll see parts needed for BSI. Unfortunately it's not that easy. Plus the infotainment system has an on/off for BSI and not sure how you can do that without a different android build.
