yes he shed, or molts is more like it. Absolutely fantastic with kids (have a 3 1/2 yr old and 10 mo. old). We had the greatest Golden Retriever b4 and weren't ready for another, so we went with this breed. Bernese are advertised as having same disposition, but they are not. There are personality differences between Sporting (golden) and Working (berners) dogs. While we love Henry, would probably lean towards Golden again next (Henry is only 1 1/2 yrs). Lots of work as a puppy and is not always comfortable around strangers - particularly men. The breed is rather "aloof". Loves the winter/snow, and lays low in the summer. As with any dog, research the breed and the breeder well. There are significant characteristic differences between male/female with this breed. Bernese Mtn dogs are tough too find. Ok, this is a Pilot site. Send me an email if you want more dog info, pics, links, etc
