As part of my XM radio install into my RES system, I followed
Honda's instructions for placement of the the XM radio antenna
on the dash.

This seems to work just fine. The only time I get any drop out
is in an area where serveral overpasses meet and I drive
underneath them. I sometimes get dropout in my garage with
the doors closed.

From what I've read about antenna installs is if you have a fairly
flat windshield angle the dash (or area above a trunk) works fine.
Vehicles with steep windows tend to block the signals.

Looks good! I thought about doing something really creative like gutting the antenna housing and putting the guts into one of the roof rack rails, but ultimately just wimped out and stuck it to the roof. I'm using an Antenna Specialists model that is only 5/8" at it's thickest point, so it's not noticable really. You pretty much have to be looking for it. I live in an area where there are too many terrestrial repeaters to give any indication of how well this configuration is working, but I'll be going to Gatlinburg, TN at the end of next week. When I get back I'll give a report on how it performed.

Again, nice install.
