Local car dealer has a used 2013 Pilot EX awd, silver. After taxes etc.. out the door is 16K.
93K miles, clean carfax. Would this be a good buy.
Thanks

IMO, a few grand too high? Sounds like a good vehicle though. It will need a Timing belt, etc. soon too. That's at least around $1200.

It might be a good deal, depending on how much of your $16k is sales tax/registration/fees/etc.

Also key is the major timing belt service plus the rest of that service schedule. That's due at 105k per the on-board Maintenance Minder, or seven years. Your 2013 candidate is at or past the seven years, and pushing the mileage, so may or may not have had that service done. As others have shared, it's a ~~$1,500 cost for that, so you will want to adjust your expectations some if this hasn't been done yet.

All that said, the used car market is pretty fat right now for sellers, thanks to the shortage of available new cars due to silicon supply delays. Many dealers are below 25-day inventory on new cars, and have increased prices is availability has fallen. Those shorter-term increases trickle down to the good-used market you are shopping in. How much? Varies some by location. If you aren't seeing local deals on new Pilots, there's a fair chance that deals on good used ones are going to be similarly rare.

Normal due diligence is needed on any used car purchase. The Pilot has a limited set of issues to be concerned over. Read the sticky about shopping for and driving a used Pilot at the top of the page for a few things to watch for.

Also, make darn sure that the bottom-level EX trim has sufficient comforts for you. We have enough visitors asking about feature upgrades that it's certainly worth looking at a higher trim if you want the better seats, sound, navigation, entertainment, towing, etc. that come with the higher level cars. Look at/sit in/drive a comparable EX-L or Touring before you sign.

Welcome to Piloteers!

Its probably ok deal of in good shape and tires are good. Have them throw in the required 100k maint and you pay for the recommended coolant pump replacement at the same time since they are already doing half the work.
