OK, maybe some visiting MDX owners might have a thought on this...I saw the same problem reported in their forum but I didn't see a final conclusion on it...

The glass on the driver's side window is not fitting securely at the top, so at certain speeds and certain vibrations, the glass makes a "scrunching" noise, which one MDX owner described aptly as "the sound of plastic wrap scrunching." This sound can easily be replicated by pressing on the top of the drivers window from the inside...it moves and makes that "scrunch" noise.

It's bearable, but not enjoyable, and I'm wondering why I'm the only one who hears it. I have 600 miles on my Pilot EX-L to date, and while I thought the noise had gone away for awhile, I find that it's now back.

Take it in

Simple take it to your dealer, that is what you have the warrenty for. They will have to fix it to your standards plain and simple. If they don't keep being a pain in the ass and they will make sure it gets fixed just to get you out of their hair.

Re: Take it in

I agree with Pat. I have only had my Pilot for less than a week and have not noticed the scrunch you mention but please keep us posted on what you find out from your dealer when you take it in for that to be rectified.

Window rattle fixed

Wanted to update my own original post and let you know that the drivers window rattle is now fixed. Took it in and they reportedly fixed it by simply spraying it with silicon spray. Said the seals were dry, and that they'd already had another Pilot in with the exact same problem.

So for any of those living with a rattling or buzzing window, take it in (or try spraying it yourself). Life is much nicer and quieter now that it's fixed.

Scrunch

Took my pilot in today and they loaded the windows up with silicone. The 'scrunching' still exists. Service advisor suggested driving it around for awhile and see if the rubber seals around the windows 'loosen up'. They also suggested that I call American Honda customer service, which I have done, and someone is going to research the problem and get back to me. More to follow.

Attempted

Attempted to go to my dealer today to address my window scrunch problem which is wreaking havoc on my senses .... All I got were blank stares ... The service manager says he we will research the problem through their Honda Techline and call me back next week ... I will let you know what his conclusions are ...

I don't know about you guys, but my windows don't seem to be loose. Even if I push on the window as I drive, the scrunch is still there. I will bring thr car in this Fri to have them silicone the windows. It looks like people have had mixed results with this.

In any event, the windows should be siliconed anyway. Let's see if this works...

You'll need to wash your vehicle after they do their silicone thing.

Well, they ....

siliconed my windows and now there is a bunch of goo on the seals and on the tops of my windows. The stuff has left a ring across the tops of my windows that I can't seem to get off. Any ideas as how to get this silicone stuff off would be much appreciated. Yes, and oh by the way, the scrunch is still there.

Are you serious??? Silicone spray is a very light and slippery application that comes in a spray can. Did you watch them do it? Plus, the silicone does not go around the window, it goes around the INSIDE of the window track. It should not even touch your roofline...

Well,

wasn't allowed in the maintenance bays to see the work done ... The stuff that is on it is not light at all and is isolated in the window tract. But, the portion or tip of the window that goes into the tract has the stuff on it ... that has created a whitening, sort of a french manicure look, on the tips of the window. Definitely not good ... the stuff doesn't want to come off ...

No Response

I still haven't received a reply from American Honda either. They called on 7/3 and left a voice mail. I have returned the call on 7/3, 7/5, 7/8 & 7/9. Keep getting the gentemen's voice mail but have been told he is in the office. Unable to get anyone else to answer me but did find out they called the service manager at my dealer but have no idea what the outcome of that conversation was. The window 'scrunching' is officially starting to drive me nuts and I can't get the silicone film off my windows. Will try 409 next and they also recommended acetone if that doesn't work?? I suggest everyone call American Honda automobile customer service at (800) 999-1009 to report their problems (you will need your VIN# to report problems). As my service advisor stated, if enough people call to report these problems, the more they are likely to try to figure out a solution to them.
