Recently went to dealership where I purchased my Pilot. I was grabbing ATF (she’s surging pretty badly) and air/cabin filters, and new plugs. I’ve got 40k, and I know plugs are usually changed at 90k, but I prefer 40k. Guy told me they were special order, and $72 each!!!?! And I thought OEM plugs on my 530i were pricey at $20/each.

Can anyone explain why? Are the plugs supposed to be “lifetime” plugs...if so, I really hope they are better than the “lifetime” ATF.

That dealership is Insane! Maybe they were brought in on a first class flight. Then yes the price would be correct.

The replacement interval for the spark plugs, before the maintenance minder was introduced, was every 105K miles. Replace them now, if you want to, but at only 40K miles seems rather early.

Also, parts prices can vary widely between dealers.
You can check local parts prices on the Honda estore website.
For example, the price for an engine air filter for my 2003 varies from $19 to $42 at different dealers.
