So why is there a bolt stopping it up?
Transmission and diffs do have breather hoses to allow pressure to ease as the car is used. But they aren't low down like that.
The ac drain is on the passenger side not driver's side.

If that is tranny fluid on the ground you might want to check your fluid level. As others have mentioned it could be the tranny breather. The ones I have seen have a metal cap. Perhaps yours rubbed on the pavement and fell off.

so guess my mechanic was right.

No thats not tranny fluid, just some droplet of water

Two dangling hoses that emanate from the transmission-ish region? Just spitballing here, but is it within the realm of possibility that a previous owner had a transmission cooler that was subsequently removed, leaving only the plugged up hoses?

(Yes, I know it was a forum technical glitch that was promptly repaired. Thanks to those who reported and fixed it. Thought it was just me.)
