I'm interested in installing the Side Steps (not running boards) on my Pilot EX.

I can't seem to find a clear, full picture of a Pilot with the Side Steps installed.

I always see the same Honda.com pic posted everywhere which just shows the Side Steps and a small part of the door.

Before I order and have these installed, I'd like to see what they really look like!

Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Pictures of side steps and running boards

I think this wins for the most frequently asked question.
:)

Here is what I think was the best thread: good comparison pictures of both

Not much to see

There's not much to see in profile - I have a couple pre/post-install pictures I took if you want to see them.

My leafy Red Rock picture shows them better, I think.

Both are good looking, but I would go with sidesteps, they are easier to step on.I got got the running boards and seem like everytime I try to step on it (from getting out) I miss it.

thanks for the info...a couple of quick questions:

about how many inches do the side steps drop from the truck or are they flush with the frame?

about how many inches do side steps come out from the side?

Hey! Great pics...finally a profile shot of the side steps! :D

I think I'm going to go with them instead of the boards.

*cheers*

I was wondering....how easy or hard is the install? I would like to have steps on the pilot and also would like to save a few bucks.
Also, do the gap between the body and the steps pose a "hazard"...say like a kid accidentally slipping his foot into said gap? This is actually one of the things I'm worried about so I'm on the fence between running boards or steps.

I went to the Honda dealership where I got my Pilot (this was only a month after picking up the truck) and he quoated me $1200 for the Side Steps and $1400 for the Running Boards.

There are quite a few places on-line which sell authentic Honda parts. Several hav the Steps for under $400 and from what I've seen in the online installation manual, it doesn't seem that difficult.

You could probably get your mechanic to do it for $100.

Still well below those crazy prices at the dealership!

Self-install

As you can see from the pix, I installed them myself. Bought from Tim/hondacuraworld.com along with my other "D"IOs.
http://store.clubrsx.com/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HAW&Product_Code=08L33-S9V-100A&Category_Code=HPIBPRB for $388.70 delivered.

Alamat - it took me about 1 hour total, being pretty careful (dry fitting and locktite blue on everything, torque wrench checks, padding floor and truck) - I'm handy, but no expert.

The gap isn't a problem - my 6 year old climbs in by himself every day, nothing has gotten caught.

Install them yourself. I self-installed mine, in the dark, in about an hour.

The steps fit very close to the body of the Pilot. There is not enough room to fit a child's foot through there.

Thanks for the reply. I'm no expert but at least I know how to use a few tools so I think I can hack this one. On another note, does installing the boards or steps not that different? The wife seems to think the boards look better.....
