Not sure what you mean by a load equalizer but you do need to use the proper resistor for your turn signals to prevent hyper flashing. This might help:

Some bulbs come with built in resistors, however if you purchase this type you need to spend the money for good quality bulbs. Often the cheap Chinese bulbs either don't work or burn out quickly.

Thank you! I’m actually looking at changing the reverse light. On the sylvania website it says something about a load equalizer. See photo. That’s what I meant.
Is that only needed for turn signals?

Yep, they are to prevent hyper flash. The lower voltage signals the computer that the blinker voltage is too low, thus causing the hyper flash to tell you that you have a burnt out bulb.
