I swapped the original 18” wheels on my 2017 Honda Pilot for 2022 Acura MDX Advance rims at 20” and wider than the 20” from the Elite trim. The came out really good.
Oops, you got curb rub on it there. :surprise:

Otherwise, looks great! 😄

Do you it will have a room if I use 255/50R20 or 265/50R20?

Same wheel size and offset?

is that a kit you have in the front lip ? How is the ride quality of the tire/wheel setup?
Hello, I think you all might be the perfect group to be able to help.

I have a 2014 Honda Pilot 4WD LX. The original steel wheels are still on the car. I'd like to replace those steel rust buckets with 17 x 7.5 alloy wheels. I want 17" alloy wheels so I don't have to buy new tires because the tires I have are still good. As far as I have been able to determine, here's the data on the steel rims:

Size: 17 x 7.5
Bolt pattern: 5 x 120 mm
Offset: 45 mm
Center bore: 64.1 mm
STL63894/64011 Honda Pilot, Ridgeline Wheel Steel #42700SJCA01

HERE'S THE PROBLEM
My 2014 steel wheels have all the same measurements as many alloy wheels out there, just like the ones shown below. However, even though they have the same measurements as the 2014 steel wheels, the seller's ad says these rims fit only 2009, 2010 and 2011 Pilots. Along the way, someone suggested that alloy wheels with the same measurements of steel wheels may not fit because the interior diameter of the alloy wheel is smaller than the interior diameter of the steel wheel. In other words, the inside diameter of the alloy wheel does not allow it slip over the break assembly with enough room to house the rotors, calipers, etc. (Apparently, it's a structural issue based on steel, which can be thinner, versus alloy which apparently needs to be thicker.)

  • Does anyone have any information on this?
  • Do alloy rims of the same size have a smaller interior diameter than steel rims?
  • Would alloy wheels of the same size fit or not?
  • This is highly unlikely, but does the Pilot trim level (LX, EX, etc) make any difference with the size of the brakes?
  • Would I have to switch to 18" alloy wheels to have enough room to clear the break assembly?
ANY INFO AT ALL IS MOST APPRECIATED!!
THANKS- Mike

Great idea! I am clearly not the only one having trouble with these things. I am trying to avoid buying new tires but may have to anyways.
