Traded my 98 Honda Passport in for 05 Pilot. I loved the Passport for its looks. It had a rugged off road look and I had some macho stuff on it. Then one day, I was having some exhaust issues. Getting under it, I noticed many different things...non of which I liked. Being a Honda/Toyota person, I like the purebred cars. Let me see if I can remember this right: Engine was from Isuzu, transmission was GM, it was assembled in either Mexico or Brazil(?) and had a Honda emblem. WTF to that! Now, I don't dislike the Big 3. I have had 5 Corvettes, Mustang GTs, Chrysler cars (NEVER again) and two Mazda RX-7s. But when it comes to reliability...we all know what really lasts beyond 100k miles. This Passport was a mutt and I didn't want it. I wanted Honda or Toyota. I actually prefer the 4runner but they are more expensive. I'm really really happy with the Pilot. I change the tranny every 15k and the motor every 2500 with full synthetic. Overkill maybe, but it will remain in top condition. I put custom 5 spoke rims on it, a push bar with really good lights on it and blacked out the windows as legal as I could. Yea, not as cool as my 1988 Chevy 1500 with 9 inches of lift and 42 inch Swampers and cutout fender flares, but I still feel like a real dude driving the Pilot with my little girls and german shepherds in the back of it. BTW, german shepherds will eat seatbelts if they can reach them. That's just a little fun fact.:29:

Traded in my 1991 lexus ls400 for my 2004 honda pilot recently. Was looking for more room. A v6. Room for my 2 german shepherds. Haul stuff around. Safety.

A 2004 Buick Rainier which was probably the worst, most unreliable vehicle I've ever driven. Never looked back.

2003 Honda Element.
It was still going strong after 180,000 miles but I wanted something bigger and nicer.
I passed it along to someone else in my family to enjoy for a while.

Ours replaced a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. Even with one of the ugliest front ends on any vehicle since the Edsel, for the money, probably one of the best cars I've owned. It didn't have tons of power, but it was extremely reliable and never let us down. Surprisingly, the sound system is amazing. Even with a subwoofer, the Pilot doesn't even come close to sound quality and clear low bass. I like the little SUV so much that I've parked my BMW and now it's my daily driver.

The 3rd row and more room was a must with 8 yo twin boys. I was actually looking to upgrade to a mitsubishi endeavor, but we found this 2008 with 100k in near perfect condition and ALL service maintenance done including timing belt/water pump replacement the DAY we bought it at $12K, I couldn't pass it up. So far, I really like it.
Maybe even enough to forgive Honda for such a disappointing sound system.

We replaced our 2012 Toyota Venza. We now have 2 kids now and it just wasn't big enough. Plus I've always been a Honda guy! I loved the Venza butthe 3 row in the Pilot makes things so much easier.

Got married and decided it was time to sell my 05 Infiniti G35 coupe w/ 68k miles. I was able to recently purchase a 07 Pilot EX-L w/ 54k miles for basically the same price.

Back in the late 90's Honda and Acura had this agreement whereby Isuzu would produce Honda and Acura SUV's, while the Pilot and MDX were in development. As is noted with Isuzu/GM quality, there aren't many of these critters left on the roads anymore, but as a quality comparison, look how many late 90's CR-Vs are still seen on the roadways.

Hello, new here. I traded a 2006 Silverado Reg Cab Long box WT for a 2006 Pilot EX-L (RES) VTM-4.

I mainly did this because my wife has been nagging me for years to get something with a back seat that can haul the kids around in case anything happened to her car, a 2007 Odyssey Touring.

I had a 2005 Element with a 5 spd manual trans when I bought a small boat and the Element just didn't seem to be safe enough for towing (specifically stopping). The weight I am towing is about 2200 lbs (400 trailer weight, 1700 boat+motor), with everything included but people and gear so I tow on average about 2800 to 2900 lbs including fuel, people, food, gear etc... So I got the Silverado new in 2006 and kept it 8 years, but in the mean time we had 2 kids :) The Silverado had a stated towing capacity of 3800 lbs, 5000 - 1000 for being manual trans and -200 for long box.

Anywho, ended up with this 06 EX-L last week. So hey everyone.

Our Pilot replaced my wife's '07 RAV4 . It served us well, but with 3 Labs ,and a Dachshund, there just was enough room for luggage on trips .
The new Pilot is very much dog approved .:29:

Replaced a 2005 Dodge Neon SRT4. Got a gold 2005 EX-L RES w/leather with 86k on the odo and 8 pages of maint from carfax! it is like brand new, every single maint item was accomplished from its birth. Transmission is smooth and not one issue. I had test driven an '04 on the same lot with the thunks and hesitation shifts. The fear really turned me off after I knew it was most likely the trans issue. The dealer(of course!) offered me the 05 sitting beside it to test drive..NIGHT AND DAY...Really liking it so far, already trolling the site and have some things on the list to get done....cleaned the rear blower screen(which was barely dirty) and plan on DIY'n diff fluid, trans fluid and Timing/serpentine belts in the next month. Thanks for having me!

The 2011 Pilot EX-L replace a Dodge Journey RT 2010. I boought the Journey new in 2010 and my wife had put only 25000km on it. Changed it for towing purpose. Travel trailer was to heavy for the Dodge.

Replacing a Volvo

The vehicle I replaced was a 2004 Volvo XC90. The Volvo had been a decent vehicle until it hit 205K. It was making a knocking sound like it was ready to throw a rod. Not to mention the fact that the Volvo was very expensive to repair. Also, since we added a second child and seeing that we travel a lot from NC to TN, we need more room!!
I replaced the Volvo with a 2010 Pilot EX-L, it had 68K when I bought it!
Any tips for me would be helpful...

Thanks
Michael Mabe

2007 VW Passat Wagon...Trading in tomorrow and taking delivery of a 2014 EX-L. REALLY gonna miss the VW Wagon, 3.6 liter 280hp, 4-motion (read quattro), a VERY fun DD.

Going to the Pilot 'cuz we're keeping our toddler rear facing longer and I don't want to eat the steering wheel when our 2nd kid shows up in August.

Telling myself that the Pilot won't be for the fun driving, that'll now have to be saved all for the 1970 911 in the garage.
