What navigational system is Honda using in 2023 for the pilot?

Previous years was Garmin which has been very good. We are looking at buying a new pilot in April and were wondering if anyone knows if they are still using the Garmin navigation system?

I'm really surprised no one has an answer to my question. Has anyone asked a dealer or maybe they don't know either?

I heard sometime ago, Honda was starting to use "HERE" software instead of Garmin but it was only a guess I think. This is why I'm asking if anyone actually knows?

Thanks

The full navigation owner's manual is available via Honda's website. In that doc, it includes a link to here.com to suggest map updates/corrections. Not 100% clear if HERE provides the software or just the data. But in either case, the manual provides plenty of info on the look & feel of the nav software.
I just picked up my Elite today. I asked the dealer if it's still a Garmin system with ~4 years of updates included. They confirmed that it was.

Maps for the 2021-2023 get only 3 years of map updates.

is it a 2023 Pilot? I have a touring and it is not a garmin...the new map sucks
I'm guessing most people are using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Can you try using your phone's nav?
I use a flip phone...bought this trim for the navigation system...called Honda service, they won't help, called HERE...they won't help....very frustrated...the map SUCKS!!!!

WOW THAT SOUNDS BAD

WHY DONT YOU DO LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD HAS NOW FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AND USE ANDROID AUTO OR CARPLAY FOR YOUR NAVIGATION

Edit - I see you have a flip phone

Maybe consider upgrading to any basic smartphone since it is now past 2007?

Let's be fair - Honda has only been supporting Android Auto since 2016, and not on all their models until 2018.

AA has been a non-negotiable new-car requirement for me since 2017.

Yep it is an amazing new thing for me (my latest car prior to these new purchases was 2014). Love it

I paid extra to have the navigation system in the car...it should work...Honda and HERE will not take responsibility that there is an issue...they both say call the other...would you be happy if you paid for a TV and it did not work when you got it home...no you would take it back!!!
You've said the new map SUCKS 4x in this thread alone. Do you think we can do anything here to help you?
It is what it is at this point, Honda provided you a product but you should have done your due diligence on the test drive before purchasing to make sure it lived up to your standards. That is 100% on you. You are blaming others for your mistake. Own it and move on.

I did put in a couple of addresses and those worked...when I put in a school address and it says "not found" and the school has been there for 10 years or I put in a particular place down town and it says not found...that is the frustrating part...I am not blaming others, I just disappointed that Honda or HERE will take ownership and say that yes we will update the map, or that they will even look into it...I have been on the phone for several hours trying to talk to Honda, Garmin (who I was originally told by Honda was who had the maps), finally talked to HERE and they could not find an update...s

I think you're going to have better luck just upgrading to a smartphone. Manufacturer's are always going to invest their money into features for the masses. Technology has moved on. Upgrade on get left behind, unfortunately.
If I had not paid extra for the trim with Navigation I would not be so frustrated...if they are not going to support what they sell they should not sell it!!!

HERE seems to be keeping up with updates for other Honda models; they claim annual updates. There is already one listed for 2023 Civic on the HERE website, but no other 2023 Honda models yet. Presumably one for the 2023 Pilot will come later this year. But even when they get around to publishing the 2023 Pilot update, I'm guessing it's doubtful they include that school which has been there for 10 years.

Built-in vehicle NAV systems have pretty much gone they way of the manual transmission in that less than 5% of the buyers care about it these days. Unlike a manual transmission, NAV system doesn't cost Honda much to license it and plop it into the head-unit on the higher-end trims, hence NAV is still available (unlike manual transmissions, for the most part).

Google maps/navigation, via Android Auto (or similiar with Apple CarPlay), is a vastly superior experience in all respects. Google Maps works OK even if "offline" and no cell service, though it works far better if one downloads the relevant area within Googe Maps ahead of time.

You paid extra for the Elite or Touring, perhaps specifically for NAV. Perhaps just tell yourself you paid the premium for the superior Bose 12-speaker system, not the NAV :)
