By popular request, here's a poll. If you think of options to add, post them.

Most importantly, post your reason(s).

You may select more than one option if you wish.

This is a truly excellent poll... you're getting pretty darn good at this!

I voted OEM or brand name AM in the factory rating (DOT 3 or DOT 4, whichever the manual recommends). I also am 100% on board with using a fresh bottle, the most I've let and opened bottle sit and still used it was a couple weeks when I redid the entire braking system on my Impala.

Any Dot 3 works. No need to over pay.
Have an open bottle? No problem. Put the bottle in a Ziploc bag, squeeze the air out and seal.

🤔 If brake fluid absorbs water, wouldn't our reservoirs eventually overflow? 🤓

Only if the brake pads don't wear down.
That doesn't sound like a logical answer. I need Myth Busters.

Walk us through your thought process so we can see where it might have gone wrong.
The point is, I think a lot of un-used open bottles of brake fluid is being discarded needlessly because of this fear. You got the cap screwed on tight.?

I have the brake fluid replacement done at the dealer.
They use BG equipment and fluid.

I've still got popcorn left over from the last entertaining "exchange of ideas." I'm debating whether to eat the leftovers or make a fresh batch for this episode.

No doubt your wife's friends at the book club meeting all swoon when she tells them that you let her help with car repairs.
Her friends would do the same for their husbands. 😀

Opinion? Naw, this is already quite entertaining as a spectator sport. Maybe later. My only opinion now is that this popcorn sure would go down smooth with a frosty beer.

Do tell. How long does it take to master that technique? :)
