What did you do today to your 2003-2008 Pilot?

Replaced NGK Laser Platinum spark plugs with NGK Ruthenium HX plugs on my 03'. Oil change with Amsoil 0w-40 Signature Series oil and Amsoil EA filter. Why 0w-40 instead of the recommended 5w-20? The 0w will flow a little faster on cold starts in the winter and the 40 will protect much better on 90F+ (outside air temp.) summer days.

Also, I called NGK and verified that sparkplugs.com is an authorized distributor/seller (they didn't have them listed on their website) so, I get real plugs and not counterfeits. Yes, there is a whole world of fake/counterfeit auto parts out there and I would recommend not buying auto parts off of Ebay. If you're not buying directly from the stealership, definitely go to the manufactures website and look up their authorized distributor/seller's and if they don't have this information posted give them a call.

Here are some fun for the whole family spark plug pics:

I loaded it with (overpriced) wood to spruce up (figuratively, not literally) the rooftop deck, and a new gas grill barbecue. Along with the Honey Do List, I replaced the most needful floorboards, and the rest will have to wait until tomorrow, as will assembling the barbecue. Are they still as stupid and frustrating to assemble as I remember?
As a child, did you ever have an Erector set?

This all helps explain my scant presence on Piloteers these days. Well that and drinks and dinner and drinks on said deck. :)
No picks of the wood in the Pilot?
Lately, I picked up 2x8's and 2x4's - all 8 feet long; and put them in the 08, with the hatch shut no problem.
3rd row down, 2nd row 2/3's down and put the boards thru up into the 1st row and on the center console.
EZ PZ.
On my truck, I'd have to open the back slider and stick them thru, or just leave the gate down.

I can't say enough about drinks and decks LOL!
My grill/smoker has to burn things/wood/charcoal to work. But I've seen BBQ nicely done with gas too.

Good luck getting the BBQ assembled. The last time I put one together was 22 years ago (my el cheapo grill refuses to die so I can’t justify getting a new one) and it took a while. I’m guessing things haven’t changed much. But it’s safer assembling it yourself than trusting that the (fill in store name) got all the bolts and hoses tightened correctly. Must see pics when you’re done.

Thanks!

road2cycle mentioned this above "If your Pilot is an Ohthree it likely has the oil jet placed in the tranny fill port location. That was Honda’s fix for tranny issues on the earlier first gen Pilots."

I'll take another look though today.
Here is the location of the tranny fill port on the 2005 Pilot. The view is from looking down from the driver's side fender. I just took this today after doing a tranny drain and fill as well as changing out the tranny filter.

Yes, and then I became a young man. :)

My el cheapo grill is pretty much the same age. I still have PTSD from assembling it. But I'd be willing to bet a perfectly grilled kebab the new one doesn't last as long.

The ever-extending Honey Do List on the deck precluded my doing anything on the Pilot today let alone taking on the BBQ assembly, but dang if we don't have a nice 'n' functional rooftop terrace now, perfect for celebratory and self-congratulatory drinks, homemade pizza, and more drinks.

I won't take you up on that bet because I know you're likely correct. It's sad how things being disposable after a few years has become the norm.

Detailed the interior of my 04 Pilot, rented a carpet cleaner from the harware store and did the headliner, seat and carpets. Pressure washed the floor mats and leather cream is soaking into the seats

Which kind did you use and how thick did you lay it on?
I spent most of the weekend pulling out seats and deep scrubbing the carpet and upholstery on my new old 2006 EX-L. It feels as if I'm finally getting all the old gunk out of the nooks and crannies. I'm also wondering how people can be so gross, lol. Next stop: headliner replacement!

Wife installed the last of the child seats, so the family-carrying aspect of the "new" Pilot is now complete. Started shopping for new tires and wheels. Had my youngest boy throw a fit inside of it when it was time to go eat dinner instead of playing in dad's "new" car. :)

What tires are on your short list?

I'm perhaps going to talk my daughter into a set of Kumho Crugen HT 51s, but it'll have to wait until finals are over at the beginning of next month.

Curses, foiled again.

Kumho items do not ship to the following:
  • USA: HI, AK, PR
  • Canada: PE, YT, QC, MB, NS, NU, NL, ON, AB, NB, SK, NT, BC

I use Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Lotion and put it on real thick and let it soak for a couple of hours. I have a fairly stiff brush that I then work it in pretty good and let it soak another couple of hours, then wipe it and let it sit over night.

The back two rows of seats are always folded over in my vehicle so they don't get the UV exposure that the fronts do. 17 years, 8 years of hauling kids, 4 different family drivers at home and at college and the leather is still very good. The foam in the drivers seat collapsed but I had it rebuilt by a seat trimmer for $200 and that is probably the best money I've spent on the car

Unfortunately no short list yet, because I haven't settled on rim size.

If I keep OEM 16" rim size, I'll run a 215/85R16, and there's a lot of good options. Maybe 7-8lbs heavier per tire over stock, not terrible, and with the proper offset I can retain the proper scrub radius.

If I go +1, because it's easier to find rims with a higher load rating and selection of styles, I'd essentially have to go with a 235/75R17, but at least they're in the same ballpark of extra weight and diameter and impact to geometry as the 16.

Going for something along these lines:

Today I moved the Pilot down to a neighbor's house because we're getting a bunch of big trees felled. Hoping to spend some time diagnosing the whine it's got, I would love for it to just be the alternator.
