Mines an 07. I don't know if they had different ones for different first gens or what. The parts guy at Honda was confused too. What year is your Pilot? I've got an 04 and when I removed my spool valve assembly, the original gasket had the screen on it, so I replaced it with the same.
Very pretty. Where'd you get it from and how spendy? After 3 weeks of shipping delays, the new transmission finally arrived and I got all the external parts swapped over or replaced, so it's ready to get bolted on.
Online from a transmission shop with rebuilt old stock for around $1200 shipped. It was their last one. I'm thinking of cleaning up my old one and rebuilding it myself as an educational practice, then I'll have a spare in case this new one dies.Very pretty. Where'd you get it from and how spendy?
Wow. That's an amazing price.Online from a transmission shop with rebuilt old stock for around $1200 shipped. It was their last one. I'm thinking of cleaning up my old one and rebuilding it myself as an educational practice, then I'll have a spare in case this new one dies.
I need to perform exactly the same part replacement (middle panel on 2005 Pilot-EXL) for similar reasons.I replaced the middle panel assembly on the dash. Item 28 below.

An errant box from the back knocked out a bunch of the vent louvers in the center of the panel when we were moving.
No more gap toothed grin to torment me....
Looks complex, but only took about 30 minutes.
Followup, turns out the new alternator might not be working quite right. It puts out 14.6v right after starting up and for the first 10 minutes or so when driving on a highway with constant accelerator applied, but then if I take my foot off the gas and let the car coast, it drops to 12.1v and stays there until I either come to a stop, or hit the gas again. Is that correct? I didn't get any warning lights on the dash, but it seems wild that there would be a 2.5v voltage swing based on whether I'm hitting the throttle or not.Now that I've got my Pilot running with it's new transmission for the past few days, everything seemed to be fine except that I was getting a really loud electrical whine noise in the cabin that was directly related to the position of the accelerator pedal. I've got a battery voltage meter in the 12v accessory socket in the center console and could see that the voltage was really sagging with the headlights on and under any light loads. The engine still had the original 04 alternator on it, so I replaced it today with a reman Denso unit, and the noise is gone and the output voltage is stable and strong.
In the interim the local auto parts store (advance/autozone) could test the alternator performance in the vehicle. Sometimes the rebuilt alternators can be hit or miss. When I ordered my new Denso alternator online from hondaautomotiveparts the rebuilt Denso had a longer warranty than the new Denso.Followup, turns out the new alternator might not be working quite right. Hope your neighbor didn't notice any drops you may have spilled onto his driveway.the pavement next door
He was there while I did it, and changed the oil in his Express van at the same time.Hope your neighbor didn't notice any drops you may have spilled onto his driveway.![]()
Ha, my F.I.L. did that couple weeks ago in my garage changing the oil in his venza. I put kitty litter on it, then before I could sweep it up my wife parked the pilot full of snow on top and it all turned to disgusting oil litter slime. Was not fun cleaning that up so I could do the work I needed on the Pilot a few days later. He was there while I did it, and changed the oil in his Express van at the same time.
We live next door to an Antique Mall and did it while the store was closed.
I wiped up the little bit I spilled, he managed to somehow flip his drain pan pulling it from under the van.![]()

That reminds me of the time the Stepson kept adding oil to an 85 Olds Cutlass wagon without checking the dipstick because the oil light came on. It overflowed a 15 quart oil pan when I drained it. Not sure how the engine even ran with that much oil in it. Not even sure how many gallons he had put in. The oil sending unit had gone bad.Remind me not to post pics of my garage still a full year after my daughter's oil was changed in there. Fortunately, it's a private garage so I'm the only one who has to see that reminder remainder of a precious father-daughter moment.![]()
