We bought a 2011 Pilot in 2014.

Year 1: $400 (2 oil changes, 2 transmission fluid changes, 1 air filter, 1 cabin filter, rear shocks, battery)
Year 2: $900 (1 oil change, 1 air filter, 4 new tires)
Year 3: $220 (1 oil change, 1 transmission fluid change, front brake pads and rotors, 1 rear wiper blade)
Year 4: $300 (2 oil changes, 1 transmission fluid change, 1 air filter, 1 cabin filter, rear brake pads, 1 brake fluid flush, front wiper blades, 1 PCV valve, 1 failed transmission pressure switch)
Year 5: $1050 (2 oil changes, 2 transmission fluid changes, spark plugs, timing belt and water pump service, 1 battery, VCM tuner installed, front headlight and fog lamp assemblies and bulbs, coolant, drive belt, power steering fluid replaced)
Year 6: $1160 (1 oil change, 1 air filter, 1 cabin filter, 4 new tires, 4 new TPMS sensors, alignment)
Year 7: $60 (2 oil changes)
Year 8: $70 (1 oil change, front wiper blades)
Year 9: $610 (2 oil changes, 1 battery, 2 headlight bulbs, 1 air filter, rear wiper blade, front brake pads and rotors, 2 front swaybar end links)
Year 10: $850 (1 oil change, 1 tire, 2 CV Axles, 3 transmission fluid changes)
Year 11: $30 - (1 oil change)

$5650 in total maintenance, averaging $514 per year, or $43 per month.

This was nearly 100% DIY maintenance, with the exception of the alignments. I would figure you could be 3x to 4x that number if you were paying a shop to perform these.... (excluding the tires)

This was hands down the most reliable vehicle we ever owned, with almost 100% of this being planned maintenance and normal wear/tear items.

Properly maintaining a vehicle costs money.
