2016 Pilot Touring. While driving around 65mph and coasting around a curve (VCM likely on, I didn't look for indications), the transmission alert came on and the car lost power. I was able to coast to the side of the road, but when getting there, I noticed a loud grinding noise.

The dealer said the fault codes giving were U0401 (Invalid data received from PCM) and a P2652 error code, which is a rocker arm oil pressure switch B (bank 1) stuck on. They checked the oil level and it was okay. The explanation given was that the VCM hiccuped and the car was stuck in 3-cylinder mode and did not re-activate the other three cylinders, so it lost power. The dealer has replaced the oil pressure switch and said it was good to go.

Does that make sense to anyone? It seems like the failsafe mode should be to stay in 3-cylinder mode, not completely lose power. Any ideas on what was wrong?
