10. They bring back just a little bit of classic style and taste into this modernistic world of monochromatic bumpers.:bling:

9. They set you apart from everyone else as a person of taste and distinction.:headslap:

8. They go great with fog lights.:claphead:

7. The MDX also doesn't have enough chrome so we have an extra responsibility to add them.:xnuts:

6. While relatively expensive, they can be claimed as a tax deduction.:15:

5. They're shiny and cool on a hot day.:31:

4. Since there are 4, they improve the appearance of the Pilot from every conceivable angle! And they improve driving performance by about 40%:roadtrip:

3. They're required by law in some states.:25:

2. Two fog lights are a moral necessity, too. As a new Pilot owner, you have the obligation, and privilege too I might add, to teach the world about style and classic taste. The world must not be allowed to continue to fall into that black hole never ending downward spiral of monochromatic bumper despair and hopelessness. Chrome and fog light must shine forth from the primeval darkness to show the world that we shall not be permanently enveloped by the misty chaos of bland degradation. Style must prevail in the end. Chrome and fog lights must prevail.:awais:

1. Your Pilot yearns for them. I get so sad whenever I see those unfilled holes and slots on cars where options were supposed to go. The car speaks to me, privately, with unsatisfied yearning and disappointment, mournfully crying out, "My designer, who knew me before I was assembled, wanted me to have fog lights and chrome bumper trim here and here and here, but my owner, well he's a good owner and I love the family, but they just don't quite understand me:1zhelp:, my personality, and my deeper purpose in the Universe. That's OK, we really can't expect all people to understand the inner life of cars, but I'm glad I can share this with you."

Look cheesy..

Sorry, I can't agree with you . I think they look a little lame trying to put "chrome" on an all plastic bumper.

but hey, that's just my opinion, just like you posted yours.

I've never known such a big fan of chrome! I think chrome looks GREAT...on a classic 50s car, but I don't see the attraction on the Pilot. I would never add chrome to mine, but that's OK. Many people would not add running boards as I did. That's the nice thing about our Pilots, we can accessorize like crazy (wwong comes to mind), or leave it plain as can be with no aftermarket changes. If you are spending $30,000 on a vehicle that you drive everyday, you should put whatever the heck you want on it.

I still chuckle though at all of the chrome comments...

Hmm ... maybe I should take another look before we take delivery! Come to think of it, I'm not absolutely sure I've seen them in person

Perhaps some of my reasons were a little on the theoretical side and should be grounded in experience :27:

robrecht's Halloween costume...
Thanks, CNYGuy. Where can I get one for my 16-month old? He's probably going as Superman this year! He was a cow last year, but now that we have cows living across the street at the dairy farm, I'm afraid they'd want to adopt him. BTW, what does CNY stand for?

If these chrome pieces were part of the bumper, maybe. I just dont loke the fact that they stick on...I agree it is a little cheesy. I liked them at first but once I found out they are big chrome stickers I backed away.

GO for it Robrecht! I think it looks ridiculous when done to the extreme, but I'm all for a little sparkle :) Just don't put DUBS on her, or even worse...spinners Then she'll just look like a hotwheel IMHO.
I'd do the chrome steps if my Pilot wasn't silver. I'm thinking too much chrome would make SS look bland and grey. So I'll accessorize with black.

I think you'll like it, have you done a search? There are garnish photos in one of these forums, On a black pilot.

Thanks, 74PILOTMOM, I feel better now.

No, chrome should not be overdone, but my 16-month old might like the spinners (he LOVES hotwheels) except he'd never see them from his carseat, and I'm sure Mrs. Robrecht would hate them.

What are DUBS???

Can't get chrome steps 'cause Mrs. Robrecht won't allow anything that makes it look more like a truck (eg, lower trim, flaps, etc.).

I have searched for photos but I really haven't seen too many Pilots with chrome bumper garnish--even here at honda-pilot.org. But here's what I've found:

Here's a picture of jcatman's redrock pearl Belle with, you guessed it, CHROME BUMPER GARNISH

And here's wwong's do it yourself installation of CHROME BUMPER GARNISH on a Starlight Silver, not to mention robbotik's midnight blue beauty

And here's wwong's chromester with the chrome mirror tops added (could never figure out why they only cover the tops of the mirrors and not the bottoms but didn't want to hurt wwong's feelings because he is a legend when it comes to Pilot chorme!

kemc's evergreen pearl with CBG (back to abbreves)

And who could forget Twinkie's black Pilot with CBG (using abbreviations now because these really long winded links are getting kinda tiresome to type not to mention the fact that I don't even remember what URL I'm supposed to add ... oh yeah, Twinkie's black Pilot with CHROME BUMPER GARNISH--Hey, I wonder if there's a limit to how long these links can be?)

I think there's a better picture of Twinkie's ride somewhere but I forget where? Also, there may be a later picture of Twinkie's (or someone else's) black chromester with some bling-bling aftermarket chrome wheels but I can't remember where that is either?

Or maybe I'm thinking of hockeyfox's classic black with chrome combo (mirrors but OEM wheels)

Controversial Havasu Blue with CBG and other bling!

Don't get me started about that totally rigged poll which was even more of a fiasco than the 2000 Florida shad counting festival!

Re: Top 10 Reasons Why Chrome Bumper Garnish Is the Most Important Accessory on a Pilot

Very good !! :D

Now, would you be willing to put your creative juices and come up with another set of ten just for the fog lights ? I'm trying to seek approval for them and need to come up with justifications ...

Glad you don't mind the kidding about the chrome...

CNY stands for Central New York, a.k.a. the metropolitan area around Syracuse, NY. I grew up in Syracuse, and am now transplanted to Michigan, but still a CNY Guy at heart.

Thanks for posting, roro. Can you drive up to New Jersey and drive by our house so my 16-month old can go crazy over your shiney spinners? He will love them, I'm sure!

When I stop in the driveway and get my kids out, I have to make sure to keep a sharp eye on my 2 year old because the front wheels are still spinning pretty fast and she's always trying to touch them.
