Called Coggin Honda of Jacksonville about this issue and the service scheduler told me that ONLY the BUCKLES were covered under the lifetime warranty. I asked the guy to verify this and he said he would talk to his manager and call me back. My wife overheard this call and immediately looked up the warranty info online at techinfo.Honda.com. She then retrieved the warranty booklet from the glove compartment and pointed out the lifetime warranty statement for the seat belts. The dealer called back and verified the warranty coverage before I could read him the Warranty Act. I’ll call back and schedule an appointment to bring it in next week if they can get me in.
No wonder vehicle owners avoid the dealer repair shop like the plague.
BTW, the dealership mentioned is the one that recently replaced my timing belt and water pump at 156K miles. That ticking noise is finally gone. Good thing, too, because I’ve been pulling an 8x10 trailer around afterwards…getting 200 miles per tank, what’s that, 10 mpg, at 2500-3000 RPM? I guess the transmission automatically avoids overdrive, unless you’re lucky enough to tuck in behind an 18-wheeler going 65-70 mph.
