First time poster but been lurking for years since 2016 when bought used 13. I had the dealership do the bandaid repair back in 2019. Bought the cheap VCM muzzler with resistors you change out in 2023 after doing all the research. Fast forward to today and got flashing CEL and the traction control light on.

The ECO light typically has stayed off. I’ve changed resistors. But like on long trips it would trigger every now and then. Not sure if it was truly not really working.

I did take the ignition coils out and there is some oil on the end of then. Mainly front bank. This could be the trigger. I did about year back get the rear ignition coils and plugs replaced along with rear valve cover gasket replaced. Could it be that valve not adjusted right.
Guess I’ll take it back Honda or maybe the local mechanic. Just don’t have the money to throw at it. Oh well. And need for the family.
Oil on the coils is a good sign that the spark plug tube seals are shot and if the valves have never been adjusted it would be a good time to do that while the valve covers are off.

I have a 2016 Honda Pilot touring. I have had issues with the car starting. I push the button to start, the gauges flicker a little but does not fire. So far I have had the injectors replaced, new battery, new starter, and new push button start. It sits in a heated garage when not being driven. I have never had this issue in my garage, only when I am out and about. It has also only happened when it’s cold outside. I have read about moisture getting in to the starter and freezing but not sure if that is the issue. Anybody have any recommendations?
You may want to create a new thread with your issues. This thread is discussing the pros & cons of VCM, which isn't related to what you're experiencing.

Just purchased a 2022 pilot. have driven it for a week and have never seen the ECO light appear.
How can I know for sure when it kicks in.
You have to push the ECON button for that feature to engage. It doesn't engage automatically.

I have a 2017 Honda Pilot EX 2WD, 101000 miles so far, drove regularly, Los Angeles traffic. Will be doing a B14 maintenance soon. The car has regular oil changes as well as tire rotations. The ECO button is never on.
2018, In the summer heat, I had an issue with the ATF temperature being too hot (temp warning was on the dash). Noticed the RPM hesitates a bit, I'm guessing in the 3rd gear. I did an ATF drain and fill 3 times, and the hesitation went away.
2023, noticed the hesitation again, checked the ATF and did the drain and refill. Symptoms went away. I never brought it to the dealer for any TSB about the torque converter.
I am not sure how VCM works but I felt a little bit of limited power when I stepped on the gas recently.
Also, I felt a bit of hesitation when the gears were changing, but so subtle, is that VCM at work?

I've seen comments about replacing spark plugs and disabling VCM. The car is all stock.
Do I need to do the "disabling of VCM" when I replace the spark plug? Also, will I have any issues with the VCM once I do and finish the timing belt replacement?
VCM shuts down the rear bank of cylinders (cyls 1,2,3) at certain speeds. Earlier versions of VCM causes a myriad of issues to the engines, but it doesn't seem to have had the same affect on the 2016-2022 GDI (Earthdreams) engines. I added the S-VCM disabler to my Pilot anyway.
