???

Is anyone or anything in the passenger seat?
Are they leaning towards the door at all?
If so, that is normal, if not then have it looked at.

light

I tried to get the light to go on with my wife shifting her weight around on the seat and could not trigger it (she is 110 pounds).

She gave up and went in the house so I had my three-year old daughter try. Either the light is defective (although it turns on when I start the vehicle) or my 30 pound daugher was too light to activate it.

Anyone else trigger it at all? Other than that I have not seen it come on at all.

It is not weight

If it is like the CR-V (and why would it not be), it is not controlled by weight.
It is a position sensor. My daughter always makes it go on by leaning towards the door. It takes some time to go on (a few seconds).

I had my wife's grandmother in the front seat on Saturday and had it go on. She was leaning against the door for about a minute.

Does the side-airbag-warning-light mean that its deactivated ? If yes, then what PilotGerharts says makes sense.

I haven't noticed it on our SS but will keep a closer eye on it.

Yes

The warning light means it is deactivated.
It should be explained in that little book they give you with the car.:D

Absolutely

I always figured that that little book was like an old comic book ... value decreased if folded, creased, or crinkled .... I have never thought to read or even open that thing ... That's a novel idea ...

That little book

Besides, it gets ruined easier without that lovely leather cover that SOME car manufacturers give their loyal patrons!:p

Alert

I'm not sure you would want to.

If the alert (the light) goes on, it means that someone or something would possibly be injured by the side airbag deploying. If I had my wife (who is 110 pounds), son, grandparent, etc. in the seat and they were leaning to that side, I would NOT want the bag deploying.

If they are sitting properly and the warning still comes on, have them relocate.

You got a leather cover .... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked for one and the dealer said it didn't come with one ... Fortunately I rummaged through my trade in before I turned the key in a took the one from my previous car ... Perfect fit ...

Dissapointing Honda doesn't give you squat ... wasn't like that before when I bought my Accord back in 91.

I got it to go on tonight by hanging out the window listening for what I thought was a clicking sound coming from my new Pilot - luckily I think it was the ancient station wagon that was at the light behind us.

Funny, PilotGerharts! I think we're all going little nuts after reading of clicks, clacks, thuds and scrunches...I, too, found myself driving up a darkened neighborhood street, windows rolled down and leaning out as I drove to see if I could hear the "engine knock".

Guess it's another way to recognize fellow Pilot owners! I still get excited when I see a CRV -- until I check out its spare tire in the rearview mirror.

Diane - I feel like I know you. I still laugh when I see the orange dots on the tires. I love this board. I feel like I knew so much about our Pilot before we even got it. My favorite was pointing out the difference in color on the door jams (SS color).

Warning light does not turn on

After reading this post and looking in the little book, I tried to lean on to the passenger side door to check it out. The warning light never turned on in any position. Something wrong with the sensor?

Hmmm

Maybe so.

Try this;
Find some one less than 5' tall but over 4'.
Have them sit in the seat and lean towards the door like they fell asleep.
Wait about 30 seconds. If it still does not come on, have the system looked at.

Either than or just have my daugter sit there. She always seems to make it come on in both cars!
