I ordered Diablo Racing 22s with spinners today. They will be shipped up from Miami and I am scheduled to have them installed tomorrow at noon. I can't wait.
I also have had a set of JL W0 15" subs, which have been sitting in my spare room for the last year and a half. I went to the audio place today and they will schedule a date for an install sometime this week. I walked the installer through my Pilot and he said it would be no problem to keep the 3rd row of seats and have a custom install of the subs. I will be running a JL 500/1 amp to power the subs and keeping the rest of the system stock (for now) I plan on adding an alarm system with remote start and chrome nerf bars and that safari front bumper bar. I like the manik or whatever safari bar that's out now, but I would prefer it to be a little wider in the front and come up more towards the hood. I'm considering the black bra for the front.
You think you can't wait, dude i'm tweaking so bad, my nipples are hard.
I forgot to mention, that my spinners are just a little different from the ones I posted a picture of. The ones I ordered are the same design except that their is a rounded section at the end of each spoke (or whatever it's called).
Well unfortunately I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to get the rims. Those rims pictures above (Venetti II) don't come in the right offset for the Pilot, so Diablo Racing is overnight shipping another 22. It's a 5 star and i'm not sure of the name of it, but I saw a picture of it and it still looks good. I'll post pictures tomorrow when I go to have them put on.
Anyways, onto the details. The 22s fit just fine, they had to use 1/2" spacers in the front with no adjustments needed in the back. There is no rubbing. There are 2 problems so far. (1) Someone dropped one of the wheels in transit from california because it was way out of wack when they had it on the machine trying to balance it. So if I drive above 50, there is lots of vibration from the rear because it's the passenger side rear tire. This is being fixed by Diablo, they are shipping a free replacement as I type this. (2) The lugs they used for the spinners are too long. They used 73mm lugs, which make them stick too far away from the wheel in my opinion. Diablo is also including two sets of lugs with that new wheel, 53mm and 63mm. We know for sure that the 63mm will work, which will push the spinner in 10mm, hopefully the 53mm will work so it can go in even further. Today, I'm taking it in for an alarm and tint on the windows.
I'm still undecided on the exhaust. I want something custom and not the chrome tips from Honda.
So far it's a blast to drive. I thought the 22s would be a very rough ride, but I was wrong. It still rides smoother than ever. I actually look forward to red lights now...:2: The look on people's faces is priceless. I've noticed people will either smack another occupant of the vehicle and point towards the rims, or they'll be driving and keep inching forward as they're staring.
Hopefully it will be nice and sunny today so I can get a bunch more pictures with the spinners on.
I think the wheels look great. I really like the 5 star better than some of the other "spinners" I have seen that tend to overwhelm the wheel. I'm down in South Florida (are you too?) and my husband thinks the tires on the Pilot should be larger. I think you mentioned yours were 22's. Are there ones that are a bit smaller than yours but bigger than the factory ones? I know nothing about tires.
You asked for more pictures, well here you go from my infamous driveway...
This is one of my hand reaching through the spinner and touching the actual rim:
Someone else suggested that I should make a small mpeg movie. I'm working on that so you can see the wheel spinning. It's pretty sweet when it's moving because you can see through it and see the 5star just sitting there. It's hard to describe.
On a side note, I stopped by madhatter exhaust today and they quoted me $400 for a custom dual exhaust set-up including the oval-square tips coming out the back.
