Hello everyone, bear with me as this is my first post so I will try to keep it to a T.

I am currently removing the steering rack for a 2005 honda pilot (180,000) and I have come here for advice in case someone has tackled this job before. I've seen a few notes and summaries but no write-ups on the matter which led me to just follow the factory service manual honda provides for this vehicle.

Long story short, I am just about ready to remove the rack. (i have the front of the subframe lowered 30mm by loosening the 14mm Flange bolts. I also lowered the rear of the subframe a bit more than 100mm so the rear sits down farther than the front)

After removing the bolts that mount the steering rack to the subframe as well as removing all the PS lines that attach the steering rack to the engine, the rack finally moves freely, about 2-3 inches in both directions. The only problem is that I think it might be caught on a metal tab which is preventing it to be removed completely from the driver's side. (i attached a photo below and circled in red what I think might be the culprit)

without wanting to lower the subframe any further as I am already slightly exceeding manufacturer specs, as well as removing even the pinion shaft to make room to angle the rack lower on my side, is there another solution that I can try to slide the rack out?

Thanks in advance! cheers :)
