I got my first one with the Pilot. Am I the first one?

I was caught by radar, and I was actually slowing down. Needless to say, I ordered a radar detector from etronics. I chose the Escort Solo S2.

Comments? Kemo, got a pic?

I come down to San Diego about every other week for business. Where did you get the speeding ticket? How fast were you going? How much is the radar detector and do you place it? Lastly, why do you have Teflon Sealant in your profile? When you click on it, nothing comes up.

I am accused of doing 76 in a 50 zone. It happened on a side street in Carmel Valley. They usually don't have radar on three-lane boulevards, but they did here. It shouldn't surprise me. I have nothing but fast side streets on my commute.

Not sure about the link. I guess they went down. Teflon is a sealant for your paint. It is guaranteed for 5 or 7 years, I don't remember. Its not as shiny as a weekly coat of wax, but it is almost maintenance free.

What not to wear when getting pulled over:

I didn't get a speeding ticket but...
I received my plates in the mail on Saturday. About 2 weeks later I get a letter in the mail from the Redflex Traffic Enforcement Office in Scottsdale, AZ. I'm thinking, this must be some sort of joke, I haven't been in AZ in at least 2 years.
So I open the envelope and inside I find a picture of a Pilot that looks a whole lot like mine. I find another picture of a guy driving a Pilot that looks a whole lot like me. Then I find a picture of a guy who looks a whole lot like me driving a Pilot that looks a whole lot like mine with license plates that look a whole lot like the ones I just put on. That guy/Pilot/plates were driving through an intersection that had a red light in his/it's direction. This picture was taken the Monday after I put the plates on.

I know they just turned the scameras on in the City of San Diego and they're still going through the 30 day warning period. Too bad for me that this was in El Cajon where the scameras have been on for a lot longer than that.

Wanna guess how much this ticket is costing me? $321 + $20 for the privilege of taking traffic school, and $17.95 for the online school. OUCH!!!

I don't even remember the light. I find myself looking left and right before entering an intersection on the lookout for red light runners. Needless to say, I now concentrate more on the light than I do on the cars that are about to T-bone me.

1st one with Pilot ... too

Hopefully this is the last! Got my first ticket in Sept last year, driving the Pilot. Clocked at 84 kph (52 mph) in a 60 kph (37.5 mph) zone. I was driving at speed limit then decided to pass another vehicle ... I was probably over the limit for less than 8 seconds but long enough to be zapped .... bummer :(

Made me realized just how powerful the 240 hp Pilot can do, and how quickly and easy to get a ticket if you're not paying attention to the speedometer. Too bad radar detector is illegal here ... worst part is I keep telling myself "never be the leading vehicle", yet I don't learn from past mistakes ...

That was my 4th ticket in 24+ years ... may be we should take a poll?

Not a good poll topic - its the kiss of death. As soon as you reply and brag that you haven't received a speeding tix in X years, fate will stick it to you, much like fredball's t-shirt.

Ouch is right. It just went up from $274 too.

Did they get your front plate or your rear plate?

One more thing to watch out for on red light camera intersections is people locking up they brakes when it turns yellow.

Sounds like you got a pretty good case! I'd fight it.
Uh, if you read all of his post, the office that sends out the tickets is in AZ. He was nabbed by a camera in CA.

Sorry, just my attempt at humor. I don't really think he should fight it.

The price and online nature of the driver rehab school seems like a great deal if they remove points from your license. In New Jersey it's more like $100 and you have to sit through the most boring 5-6 hours of your life--a good deterrent.

I Got One Too.....

I got my first speeding ticket in my PILOT two weeks after getting my new wheels.

I got my PILOT in September '02 and when the cop pulled me over, all I had with me were my temporary tags. It was funny, because the way the sun was hitting my PILOT (Sagebrush Pearl) the cop thought my PILOT was blue, then she thought it was dark grey and finally I had to tell her it was green.

Then, as if it wasn't bad enough, she called my PILOT a Honda "Passport."

I should have left it at that, because it would have the perfect way to get the ticket tossed - but when I saw it, I became a little indignant and had to let the cop know - "Hey, my car is a Honda, not a re-badged Isuzu. It's a PILOT, not a Passport."

So, she had to get to okay to void out the ticket- which she did, and she re-wrote me another ticket, but instead of writing it for 60 in a 40mph zone, she wrote it for 49 in a 40 - which only cost me 35-bucks and no points on my license.

So, I figure it this way, I fessed up to doing a bad thing and the cop let me off because she was coming across like a dumbass. We both benefitted in a way.
